Yes, but it will have to wait until Sunday night/Monday because I go home on the weekends and keep the bikes there.
I cut part of them off because I don't like all 4 finger on the clutch lever, there's room for 3 finger, but it's long enough I can use 2 fingers and it won't hit my other 2 fingers.

Took both girls out onto the I for 15 minutes until civilization ended, got on the Beeline Hwy. and did them both up; full throttle to redline through all gears out to old Moroso motorcycle track and came home. Glorious, simply glorious.

Changed from stock grips to ProGrip 719 gels; switched out the stock silver handlebar bolts for black; put on legally required front license plate using windscreen bolts. Had to drill and bend the plate to make it work, but happy to get it on without the need to drill new holes into my ninjette or mount a bracket. Went for a 50 mile ride to test it out. The gel grips, combined with a bit of extra tightening of the new handlebar bolts worked great to resolve a hand buzzing problem I'd been having. The plate catches some wind underneath it, need to shape it more - heading out with ball peen hammer now.
![]() As an aside, here's how I changed the grips: slid a small, soap-covered screwdriver under the old grips to break up the bit of glue holding the grips on out of the factory and deliver the soap. Pulled out the screwdriver and the grips slid right off with a bit of a twist. I cleaned off the soap, then put hairspray onto the bars and the new grips slid on pretty easy with the wet hairspray. When the hairspray dried, it dried tacky and new grips don't move around at all now. Would have been an easy job but for some stripping of the phillips head bolt holding the bar end on the throttle side - luckily I'd anticipated and ordered a backup bolt. ![]()

Yeah. I couldn't get under the grips to break the friction with the bar ends on.

Nothing special, I just but the ball ends off (and then some) and ground the leaves down.

I made the clutch lever short enough that I can 2 finger it easier. The brake lever didn't really matter, but they had to match.
I just wanted something different, you know? I also ground my gas cap lip down.

Maybe, I don't ride in Dallas, I go to the house in Pittsburg on the weekends. But we usually go on a short trip 1 or 2 times in the summer.

I just got some new gel Pro-Grips in red & black from Motorcycle Superstore. With 3' of snow on the ground here, futzing with your bike is the only cure for Cabin Fever.

I finished raising my bike back to stock height and took it for a ride around town. It was a good day. Thinking about riding it to church tomorrow.

It was in the mid 40s today, so took the 250 out for a spin. Tomorrow, lube chain and decide on what tires to get. Probably the BT-45s.

For the first time since I picked up the 250 a month ago, I took my bike out just to ride. Between work and a bad cold, this was literally the first time I took it out for no other reason than to ride. I got to Pacific Coast Highway, 20 minutes away from the apartment, and headed south.
And it was... awesome. With the Ninja as my only mode of transportation, I've been riding it everyday, point A to point B. It's a totally different feeling to let the road take you to... wherever, and the view of the Pacific Ocean didn't hurt either. There was a ton of other riders out too, all very friendly, except a few stoic Harley riders. I haven't gotten a middle-finger salute back for waving yet. We need to get a 250 group together... |

Yesterday I changed the oil and filter. Rode the neighborhood for a few minutes then back to the garage with it. Still need to clean and lube the chain up. Lot's of goop built up on there. Then on to the tires!

Took out my 500 streetfighter with the new D&D 4 into 1 and went up along A!A which is like floridas pacific coast hwy. in areas. Went way farther than I thought and came back on hwy. think it was all subliminal cause I had the I to myself and just cranked her like she loves, aaaaaaaall the way home. Damn, what it's like to ride. Bless and keep y'all.

I rode today for the first time in months. After a thorough pre ride check and airing up of my tires I took off for about 30 miles of backroads riding. I never got over 60 and really enjoyed the brisk air. I never got uncomfortable but it was a little chilly when the sun hid behind a cloud. Fortunately, there weren't many clouds. It was my first opportunity to begin breaking in my new Corbin saddle and new look. In the last couple of months I've cleaned up the tailcone with a cowl in place of the passenger seat and fabricated a very professional (IMHO) looking license plate holder with LEDs. I haven't gotten to any mechanical upgrades yet, but I may eventually. At most it'll probably only be a modest rejetting and K&N or something like that. All in all a very fun afternoon.

35mph @ 10k....50+ @ 10k....didnt get any further because it started to rain but I can see already it's exactly what I wanted for the riding I do. |
