engine knock?

with the bike off and in neutral, there is a knocking noise when i roll the bike. is this normal?

Knock? No, not normal. But I also recognize that noices/sounds are in the eye of the beholder.

maybe your are hearing your chain clack around the front sprocket. How dirty is your chain and is it adjusted properly.

Nothing is spinning other than your wheels, rotors touching the brake pads, and chain rolling around the sprockets.

I'd look closely at the chain first. It will make noise if it's too tight or there is a frozen or damaged link or roller.
