confused by biden's answer

joe biden said when responding to a question about the comparison between drug prohibitions and gun prohibitions:

“Are you suggesting we just legalize all drugs?” he continued. “Is that what you’re suggesting? That would go real well in Parents Magazine. Let’s talk about everybody being able to, no matter what your age, go out and [be] able to purchase cocaine. What do you think about that idea?”

isn't that the current situation? anyone, regardless of their age, can go to rialto or a similar crack den and purchase illegal drugs easily. does mr. biden not understand the point made by the question relating failed drug control policy to certain proposed gun control policies?

Sounds like he was high on drugs. Doesn't he always sound like that though?

I think we should just make murder illegal.

Problem solved.

Eh, it's a little harder to get cocaine than to get a gun at a gun show.

Personally, I feel like guns should be regulated like driving. Learn how to do it, get a license/registration.

Every gun show I have ever attended has required background checks by the licensed dealers in attendance. You show me a coke dealer that conducts a background check. There is no gun show loophole.

It might be hard to get coke in a gated retirement community or someplace really fancy and nice...but step outside those gates, drive a few minutes into the city and start asking the people standing outside enjoying the weater if they have any...I gaurantee you'll have some

Now, to buy a gun at a gun show, there has to be a gun show, so unless you're willing to drive to wherever the nearest one is to you, pay the entrance, then buy the gun...it's easier to buy coke on the street in ANY TOWN than it is to buy a gun at a gun show

It's also less expensive, 50 bucks will buy you coke, but 50 bucks will not buy you a brand new gun from a gun show so just on that alone it's easier to buy coke than a gun...have a good day trying to prove it the other way around

I thought you were going to talk about where he told someone to go out and buy a double barreled shotgun for protection. That he told his wife, if there's ever any trouble, go outside to the patio, fire two blasts just outside and he promised that anyone trying to come in would be scared and leave, that no one needs an AR-15 for that, they're harder to shoot and harder to aim anyways...really Mr. Biden?!

First of all, just blindly firing into the night is dangerous, what if they killed someone that wasn't out to hurt them like the olympic dude in South Africa? Not to mention that in most places it's illegal to fire 'warning shots' so why would he suggest that at all?

Then we can arrest them on shooting within 500 feet of the street, hunting without a license or hunting while not in season! Yay

those laws aren't valid in cases of self-defense.

Doing a film shoot in Baltimore soon. Maybe I'll conduct an experiment in the process.

... start saving bail money, folks.

No, a quick phone call & it'll be brought to you. Everyone knows at least one dodgy person, they'll know who to talk to if they don't have it themselves.

Where I'm from guns are banned, you find the guys selling coke & they'll sell you a gun, they'll even rent you a gun on the condition that 'you fire it, you bought it'.

Interesting but very risky business model. Shows innovative thinking.

How would they be able to tell if it had been fired?

If the renter got caught and fingered the supplier, it could get a bit dodgy.

They count the rounds out & back in I would assume (one of my cousins is up on charges for allegedly being involved in this, probably best not to ask). All handguns are banned so you can't buy 9mm anywhere in the country (or anywhere else on the island). If you're in the position of renting a pistol you probably don't have your own ammo for it.

Anyone going that route knows what happens if they finger the supplier, very few gangland shootings are solved & the mandatory life sentence for murder is usually about 7 years in reality.

There is some really innovative crime in Ireland, using diggers to rip a cash machine out of the wall & load it into the back of a pickup, 'Tiger kidnapping' taking bank staff & their famiy hostage, sending the banker to work to pick up as much as they can (usually the best part of a million or above) and moving the family once they've left. Telling them drop sites then changing them a couple of times to shake off any garda (police) before the actual drop.

The army now escort all cash deliveries over a couple of million & secure the highest security prison with RBS70 anti aircraft missiles & Browning M2s, and still the police are not routinely armed

If you don't know any then you don't know what your friends & acquaintances really get up to...

Even if you fire birdshot into the air...it's still illegal where he lives

http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/...-biden-in-jail

So picture this, the guy who lead the charge in gun safety (Mr. Biden), advised his wife to do something illegal, well played sir, well played...
