2010 Ninja 250 Tach/sputtering problem

Hello Fellow riders. My bike is now around 4000k. As soon as I hit 60mph, the tach went crazy and many time went all the way to the end of the red mark. IF i went back down below 60mph, then there is no problem. HOwever if i want to go back up to 61mph +, the throttle went all the way but the speed is not going up. THen if i release the throttle to slow it down, the bike sputtered.

I am going to check filter, spark plug, any obstructions. I want to know could it be the CDI? WHere can I get an aftermarket one? Thank you so much!

Also check your battery voltage and battery connections.

I believe there's a connector under the tank that supplies power to the gauges, I'd check that as well.

There is a possibility it could be your IC Ignitor. It could also be an electrical issue. There are a couple of aftermarket Performance CDI/IC Ignitors available if you choose to go that route.

- if your lights on the Ninja 250 begin to flicker or your gauges or engine speed start to act erratically, check your battery connections

Shooting wild here, but you still have your clutch engaged at that point right?
