Finally found a bike!!

Ok, so I'm really geeked(do people even still say that? Hmmm)!!! Anyway, yesterday I went up to Illinois and took a look at an 09 Blue 250 totally stock. It has 82 miles on it and priced at $3600. Husband had bought it for his wife as a surprise because she kept talking about riding. Since she had started a new business, she said she didn't have time. So, he took it back to the shop he purchased it from and bought a sport bike he wanted since he already had a Harley. Sucks for her, but YEAH for me!!!

Hubby took it for a ride and was thoroughly impressed(even though he had given me much slack about getting a 250). He said it rides like his Ninja 750 and he's considering a Z14 instead of a Hyabusa now.

Ok, I keep getting off topic. Long story short, I'll be going to pick it up Saturday. It's about a 50 minute ride on the highway from the shop to home. Hubby said he would ride it since I'm not comfortable on the highway yet. Question: Will that be ok since it's still under the break-in period?

I can't wait!!! It's supposed to be a gorgeous weekend around here!!

Congrats, Belinda.

You can ride the bike as you like, however, during the break in period, avoid long periods of the throttle at the same setting and don't lug the engine in gear.

Other that that, ride it how it needs to be ridden to keep up w/ traffic.

If it's a long straight shot home on the freeway, you might consider taking some secondary roads home instead. Hubby will be even more impressed.

I wouldn't hold a steady 75mph the whole way, but riding the highway will be fine. Congrats on the bike!

Blue is the color chosen by the more refined and erudite among us.

Well done.

Thanks everyone!! I'm so excited I can hardly sleep. It's blue for now, but over the winter, I may have it painted. We'll see. I'm naming him, "The Kid"!!! Can't wait!!!

I have the gear, but it's all in blue, black and white, so a shopping trip will ensue if I decide to paint it. (Any excuse to shop for motorcycle stuff is good). As far as mods, I have a to do list already but only for the farkles. I'll wait until next riding season to determine the performance mods based on my riding style. 2 days days to go.

Even if that were true, Kim, isn't there a saying about the slow and steady that win the race?

The Kid is Home and I feel GOOD!!!!

Ok. Hubby rode The Kid 40 miles home. I just put about 20 on him myself. I took him for PLP first to get used to the friction zone and all the controls. I got bored with that. It was time for me to test him in traffic.

After a quarter mile, I found a comfortable way for my feet to be placed and shifting. After a few blocks, I got the feel of how much throttle The Kid would need for take off. I did well. Hubby said I did well and I only had one stall leaving from a stop light uphill. Other than that, I was flowing with traffic. I can't wait for that 600 mile mark. I have 450 to go.

So the plan is to get as much saddle time without getting on the highway(again) to reach that point. Man I feel good!!!!

I've congratulated you for your bike. Now let me be the first to congratulate you for your ride.

8-12k rpm is where the fun is. By the time he's ready for you, hopefully you'll be ready for it. The first time I pull this with a passenger, I nearly dumped her.

Did you know that there's almost no difference between plasma blue and thunder blue when you put them next to each other? Thunder's just a little darker.
