I had a similar experience happen to me 3 times while looking for used '08's. I finally just gave up trying to find something used and picked up a new '09.

Don't get hung up on any one bike. If one doesn't come through there are plenty more out there to choose from.

Thanks all.
I'm going to see another one today.
But this one has less mile. only 168 but it's selling for 3300.
Kawasaki still has the title, so we'll have to work something out.
Ill update later tonight.

OK.
I went to see the bike.
In excellent condition.
it has 2 flaws.
1 small scratch on the tank right above the seat (probably from belt) and on a handle bar.
it has 106 miles. We agree on 3200.
I'm going to pick it up tomorrow.
The only draw back is she doesn't have the tittle.
So, I'll write her a check for 2700, take the bike then come back with the rest for the title.

Kawasaki has the title.
I went to their house and they seem honest.
Kim, any suggestions?

mmm... sounds like honest people, but make sure you get everything you've listed in writing and have her sign and date it when you pay her the $2700. that way if anything should go wrong after that point, you have a written document of exactly what the deal is signed by her.

make 2 copies of the agreement and leave one with her so she feels protected, too. who's to say you'll be back with the $500 for the title?

True. But she can do alot with the money. On the other hand, I can't do anything with the bike w/o the title.

if you were racing the bike, you wouldn't need a title.

she can do a lot w/ the money, but you have the bike.

like I said, the deal seems honest enough... the sales agreement is to avoid headaches in case something does not go as verbally agreed.

what's the matter... don't you watch "Judge Judy"?

hehe...
i haven't watched tv since 9 months ago.
kkkkk.
i think i will do as u adviced.
write up an agreement to save the headache.
Thanks.
this sat will be 80.. dang...can't ride yet.
it takes a least 2 weeks for the tittle to come home.
i guess the bike will be sitting in the gargage for now.
do you think 3200 for this bike is too much?

clean it up, lube and adjust it. make sure everything is as it should be. hopefully she has the owner's manual to go with the bike? if she does, make sure you get that when you pick up the bike so you can read through it while you wait for the title.

bike color?

Tin- if the bank has the title you should find out how much she still owes on it. Even though she seems honest, you never know. She could be behind on her loan payments and the last thing you need is to drop all that money only to have the repo man show up and take the bike from you- which they have every legal right to do. Something similar happened to a cousin of mine.

You should find out how much is left to pay to get the title. Depending on how much is left, you should ask to apply that portion of your payment towards paying off the bike in order to get the title. Then give her the difference and you walk away with the title. Nowadays, you can never be too careful. Just a suggestion.
