fork springs - pregen vs newgen
Just wondering... can you use 08+ fork springs on a pregen bike? Are they stiffer than the pregen springs? Any ideas if its better or worse than just buying aftermarket springs?

I'm not sure if you can use them or not. I don't see why you couldn't, you can use the 500 springs in the pregen. And yes the newgen springs are stiffer then pregen, not by a lot, but they are stiffer.

Do you know if the 500 springs are stiffer than the 08 250 springs? That was the other option I had looked into...

That much I do know and the answer is yes. They are indeed heavier then the newgen 250 springs.

I'm not 100% sure. The pre-gens do have a .44 kg/mm spring rate in front, there are numerous sources that state this. In all reviews when the 2008 came out, kawi's press releases said "37 mm front forks (up from 36 mm), with revised spring rates". So whatever they are, they are stiffer than .44. But I can't find a spec for the new ones, and I have seen people quoting .44 for the new-gen as well; yet that doesn't seem right either.

you could try cutting the springs and making a "preload" spacer to take up the amount you cut off the spring. That is what i am going to toy around with on my spare set of springs.
