shimming fail

So i swapped my spark plugs today. decided to shim the carb needles with #4 washers. it was a pain bc of the lack of room. anyway got the first needle out and added 2 washers. as i tried to put it back in the two washers fell out and is now deep in the thin flimsy plastic part. i can't get them out so i just reassembled and put everything back. question is... will my bike be damaged if i just leave the two washers there standing upright?? i did run it around the block and felt fine. Its my only form of transportation so i don't really have a choice but to ride it. i ordered acollapse magnet so i can attempt to get the two assures out later this wk when it comes. any ideas if this will eff up my bike?

You can't reach them with a pair of tweezers? I have no idea if it will cause damage, but those diaphragms aren't cheap. If its your only mode of transport, I'd advise you to get those washers out.

I had my wife's tweezers and could not grab them at all. It was hard to get at it. Couldn't even get a hold of it. They're standing straight up side by side which makes the snug. Sucks!

How about a magnetic tip screwdriver?

I had that happened. I used a combination of a magnetic head screw driver and skinny flat head or something similar to pry it loose.

Don't have one that's why I ordered the magnetic tip. Don't know how long it'll take. I don't know if it'll damage the plastic part if I use my bike. I did run around the block felt fine but I don't know if its harmful

dang it... ill have to wait for that magnetic retriever thing I ordered today. I guess i'll hitch a ride for now to work and school

i did run it around the block so now im a bit worried... I don't think I will try shimming it. I'm just going to take the washers out and put everything back. There is absolutely NO FREAKING room to work with.

Why did you order one? I'm sure your local lowes and other places carry such a tool that you don't have to wait for its arrival.

Just put a piece of tape or something sticky on the end of a straw or screwdriver. Just be careful not to pull up the diaphragms. Even if you do pull them up, just push them back down.

Its fine. Ill just wait foe the magnetic tool to arrive. Didn't have a ride and was getting tired. Maybe I will finish shimming it when I get the tool. But for now.. I'm not gonna run it. Maybe I need to take out carbs

success!! I was able to retrieve the washers with magnetic retrieving tool. I did take out the diaphragm but it was stuck pretty good. I was unable to shake it loose but the power of the magnet picked it right up. I was able to install it correctly and now it runs super awesome. I ended up installing the washers anyway. The magnet tool came in handy because i dropped the screws when trying to screw back the cap and it got lost somewhere and was able to retrieve it with no problem

the magnet tool can extend up to 24" got it for 3 bucks off ebay.. best purchase ever!
