That's dumb-and-dumber at its best.

The guy on the sport bike is dumb, but the cop is dumber.

Stupid place to go fast with all of the traffic, intersections, and driveways.

Very much so! They're totally ATGATT. Infact: there's a store nearby where I live that does custom made leathers. A lot of their customers are police. I think the police force pays for them.

I'm pretty sure they switch over to warm textiles in the winter.

@Motofool: I'm always seeing people on 125CC motorcycles and scooters wearing not much more protection than a helmet, but for bigger motorcycles, the vast majority seem to be geared up properly.

To me it's a sign of adulthood. No one is forcing these bigger-bike riders to go ATGATT, but they are choosing that for themselves out of their own good sense.

Sadly British people aren't so sensible and adult in many other areas. For some reason there is a large number of people over here that actually believe in the kings/queens/princes/princesses fairytale and they're genuinely happy that they are subordinate to this tiny minority of super-elites that live above our society. <-- just an example!

It wasn't really a comment about any particular country. I was just (genuinely) suprised to see a cop riding around in a short-sleeved shirt. He isn't even wearing gloves. It seems more than a little strange. I would have expected cops to be setting a better example - especially to kids.

Anyway, wasn't intending to ruffle any nationalistic feathers.

Really - he didn't break the speed limit? In any case, it sure looked like the cop was provoking the sport bike rider to me.

20 over isn't fast? It is in that situation, or if you get pulled over for it.

Isn't like that over here.
At least in Florida, due to the hot-humid weather and the non-mandatory law about helmets, only a few sport or adventurer riders go full geared.

As you can see in this picture, all the protection our Floridian motorcycle LEOs' have is their skills, gun and authority.
They are skilful riders and I have never seen one to fall or to crash by himself (I have never seen a female biker).
Their collisions with cars are rare, but mostly fatal.

They are no friendly to anyone either: never a wave back or a traffic light conversation, like the one in the OP's video, at least in my area.
The ones that have stopped me have not been mean either.

I believe that they will become less inclined to alternate with riders like me after this incident.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, my question was innocent as well.
Just wanted to learn from you about their riding uniform in UK.

@akima has explained it well, though.

I certainly get the appeal of wearing little or no gear: ease of movement / quicker to prepare for a ride / nice and cool in the hot countries / slightly improved vision / convenient if you're on and off the bike and performing other duties/tasks. For me though, none of those things are enough of a reward to make me drop my gear. I'm too fond of my skin and bones!

both, in terms of situation the speed limit is in the 50s and 80+ in a 50 is something I see on a normal basis when I catch up to and tail cars wishing for passing power. if you get pulled over for it so long as you aren't exceeding 100mph you're not completely out of luck for that particular instance. and if you get pulled over for 100+mph you made the mistake of stopping to be arrested for reckless endangerment/reckless driving (they can slap it on there for less but typically wont until 100+mph) though to be fair getting pulled over sucks so at any speed it's too fast if you get pulled over.

that would be a really nice feature if when submitting a new thread with a youtube link the site would do a search for the youtube tag to see if its already been posted

When posting vids, that's the first thing I usually check: I just paste the videoID into the search box to see what comes up.

it was a "race" to the speed limit for the cop, the guy on the cbr barely broke the speed limit and he pulled ahead of the cop when he did. The cop never did anything necessarily illegal.
