When parked with other bikes do you take your gear with you?

I go on rides to various bike shows. It seems like I am the only person who doesn't leave their helmet, jacket, and gloves with their bike. Same is true at restaurants that have their parking lots full of bikes. What do you do. BTW way my gear is basic HJC and tourmaster.

I don't trust anyone. My gear costs enough that I don't want to replace it on a regular basis and certainly not because someone jackass stole it.

I take it with me (unless I can see my bike and stuff on it but I lock what I can in the "trunk"). Just because your parked with a bunch of bikes doesn't mean some jackass is going to be deterred from stealing your stuff.

You are kidding right? In DC I'm lucking to find my bike in my garage. Hell, I'm lucky someone isn't squatting in my condo when I get back from a ride. I got guys trying to blow up the train station across the street and shooting at buildings down the street and that is the f'ing Pentagon!

No gear stays with me, jacket helps cover up the Sig.

I'll leave my gear on my bike only at the bike night I go to on Tuesdays, the same people show up every week and everyone knows everyone. Other than that put my helmet on the hook under the passenger seat and wear/carry my jacket at other bike events.

My jacket usually stays on as it is rare for me to get hot, in order for me to be hot It has to be blazing heat with me in the sun. I'll leave my helm locked on the bike with my gloves inside the helm at the store and quick stops. Other places I leave it all with the bike if the bike is in sight. Other times I stuff it all in my backpack so yea I depends lol.

I prefer to take my gear with me. I don't trust other people that much. Not the riders I am with mind you just other people around us.

Think about this. If your helmet gets stolen... How are you getting home? The rest of the gear you can still ride and be legal but if someone likes your helmet, the design etc.. whats to stop them from taking it? Then, unless your in a state that allows, your helmetless...

Yea I rather feeling more comfortable leaving the helmet on the bike at the mall or something then leaving it at a place amongst other riders. Its too bad this world has gotten so dishonest and untrustworthy =(

I usually put my riding pants into a saddlebag if they are on the bike. Gloves go in the Tank Bag. Jacket and helmet go with me--much too expensive to try to replace. My helmet will not work with that Mickey Mouse setup our bikes have. The Nolan helmet has a totally different latching mechanism.

Depends on the location/situation... if I'm not going to be gone long or I can keep an eye on my stuff I leave it.

Most times I'm not worried about someone taking it. I'm more worried about someone just messing with it. I worry someone might want to "pretend" to be a biker and try to sit on my bike or pick up my helmet and drop it.

It's an unfounded fear, but sometimes people do weird things.

My sister-in-law who also rides, walked up to my bike just after I'd parked it. We were talking, then out-of-the-blue she goes to touch the bike's muffler with her bare hand. She quickly pulls her hand back and says, "Ow, that's hot!" And I say, "Yeah, you just saw me get off the bike." People do strange things when I'm next to the bike, who knows what happens when I'm not there?

I never leave any gear on my bike. If I'm riding with my boyfriend, I'll put my helmet in his trunk (he has a V-strom) and take the rest with me. If I'm alone, everything comes with me.

Jessica, Sportbikes have a particular problem because we don't as a rule use saddle bags and tail bags. Even then, they are not particularly secure. So, it appears that we are destined to "schlep" our paraphanalia with us wherever we go. It's the price we pay for riding superior bikes.

I'll leave my gear on my bike if I'm somewhere where I can watch it, such as Stroker's where bike parking is next to the outdoor tables, otherwise it goes with me. It isn't the price of replacing the gear that's the big problem so much, it's that if someone stole my helmet I'd have to pay to have the bike towed home since I won't ride without a helmet, then I'd be stuck caging it until I could get a new helmet delivered.

Sometimes I just wear the jacket and carry the helmet in. And sometimes I hang the helmet on the mirror, put a cable lock thru the faceshield area, and lock it to the bike(the 650R's helmet lock is a hassle-must remove the seat). And lock the jacket and gloves in the Givi trunk. It all depends on where I'm going.

I'll leave my helmet and gloves hanging off the handlebar if it's a "safe" area and I'm just going in someplace for a minute. Otherwise I'll use the helmet lock. Jacket stays with me.

I normally leave my helmet and gloves on the bike, unlocked. The Amish don't have much use for motorcycle gear.

I almost always carry my helmet and gloves in when I get off of the bike (I wear the jacket until I'm seated). I might leave my bag strapped on the back seat if I can see the bike (and I don't need something inside of it).

If I'm with my wife I'll probably lock my helmet, with her's, on her bike.

Occasionally, I'll lock everything to the bike, with a cable lock threaded through the jacket sleeves and a mini-Kryptonite on the chin of the helmet. I might put a cover over the whole thing as well, takes away all of the "I was just checking it out" excuses (there's no reason for somebody else to be looking under my bike cover).

If I can't lock it up, it goes with me unless I can see it at times! Also, I have to be reasonably close, in case I need to chase someone. Luckily, there is typically someone around we know that in their car, so that becomes the storage unit.

Trust no one!

I rarely park next to other mc's. I carry a bungee net tie my helmet on the hooks stuff my gloves inside & voila'. It's not a good idea to leave stuff on your bike unless its very secure. Heck, I dont even leave my bike parked outside my residential street. Once I did the neighborhood little kids were climbing all over it.
