spy 5000m remote start problems
I've installed the alarm onto my bike and everything works great expect the remote start. I can get my bike to crank but not turn over using the remote. If I leave my key in the ignition on the On position the bike with work using the remote start option. I've done a lot of research online to try and figure out how to get it to work but haven't found a solution yet. Any help would be appreciated.

Look at the wiring schematic for the alarm. sounds like you don't have the relay for the remote start wired up to the ignition properly.

I have the blue wire going to a yellow/red that is the starter relay. My brown wire is hooked up to the 12v with ignition on wire. The rest are hooked up where they need to go. I can kill the engine with the remote and do everything else correctly except remote start. I'm not sure what wire I would have hooked up incorrectly.

There's evidently a trick. Have you seen this thread?

Yeah I followed that thread pretty much the same. He had the same problem with the remote start though. He posted that he figured it out and would tell you if you pmed him. I pmed him but he never responded. That was last month. So I was hoping someone else might know the workaround.

I don't think the carb'd models have any needed "trick." My remote start SPY 5000 alarm works just fine with no tricks. Did you remember to leave out the fuse?

That's one of the few things I did different from Den's write up. Instead of putting the wires directly into the fuse box I located the stop switch wire and cut that and ran the two ends into the grey and pink wires, then put the brown wire into the 12v positive when Ignition is on. I didn't like the idea of leaving the fuse out. Doing it the way I did seems to have everything working except the remote start. I haven't blown any fuses or anything like that and the remote kills the bike just fine. I ended up being stuck with the remote turning the engine but it not starting like it did on Den's write up. I did try taking the fuse out just to be sure but then I can't start the bike even manually due to the way I hooked up the wires.

I would suggest going back to the wiring indicated in the write up. I'm not sure if the changes you made would make any difference though.

I think I'll try that as a last resort but I already soldered the wires together and for now don't really want to cut them unless I have to. I think the wire set up I have is fine though. The only thing I wasn't completely sure on was the brown wire. I read it just needs to be attached to a wire that is 12v when ignition is on. Instead of attaching it to the brown wire on the bike Like Den did I attached it to a white/green wire. The white/green wire was nothing when bikes off. 12V when Its on, and 12v in the accessory. But everything else works fine so I think that's fine as well. I've never done something like this before so its a bit over my head.

I thought the brown wire was supposed to be joined with the pink and then connected to the bike.

Yeah that's the way Den did it, I believe he didn't want to cut the wire so he found a workaround. The reason why people kept blowing fuses out when they left it in was because the brown would supply the fuse with 12V and blow it. The way I did it would allow the fuse to exist without blowing it. The pink and grey wires were just for the kill switch so they wouldn't have any effect on the remote start. To my knowledge only the blue wire effects the remote start and I know I have that in the right spot because I tried it in the wrong slot one time and it blow a fuse haha. I'm not sure if I have to disable the ignition in order to get it to work but hopefully there's another way.

When I get home I'm going to take out the brown wire I have plugged in and try attaching it to a few different ones to try and get it to work. It could be that it doesn't have enough juice to turn over completely. There's 3 wires that connect and are active when you turn the ignition on. One's the brown that leads to the regulator, a white that leads to the regulator and starter and then a grey that goes to the ignition ignitor. The White is 12v all the time, the brown is 12v when ignition is on, and the grey is between 6-9 when the ignition is on. So maybe it has something to do with that. I found a wiring schematic that seems to be pretty accurate. Least it makes sense theoretically to be a problem with those wires haha.
