Dynojet - installation time?

I'm looking into picking up a Dynojet Stage 2 Jet Kit. I asked at my local dealer re installation and they quoted me $240 w/ 2.5hr labor. That seems pretty steep to me on both ends. I have a buddy that's taking good care of me - an expert on all things motorcycle - GS500 expert specifically.

I'm just wondering whether to drag him into installing it, or if what the dealer quoted me (time and money) is realistic.

How long did it take you to install it?

Thanks

Do it yourself. Have your buddy teach you so you know what you're doing later on if you ever have to dig into the carbs.

$240 sounds about right for 2.5 hours of work, but I know that doesn't take 2.5 hours of work for someone who's familiar with the 250. When I was running carbs, I could easily go from putting the bike on the stand for the first time, to carbs apart, to all back together in an hour easily.

Thanks Chris! That was the answer I was hoping for... I really do want to learn about this stuff and it's a blessing having someone to school me. I just wanted to check it wasn't going to take forever and have me feel like I'm taking advantage of him.

Nah it won't be too long. As long he's familiar with CV carbs (since he works on a GS500, I'd assume he is). Just get him a cheeseburger and a beer for his time.

I'd never have the audacity to show up without beer. That's just plain rude.
