Dangerous addiction....
So, I got my ninja 250 in July of last year. Love it, and it’s mint all black 07. But I like to tinker on things, and have a list of mods I wanted to do. My only issue was modding such a nice clean bike. It seemed wrong to cut up or bolt on too much when it has been fun and so reliable stock. So, I have to decide what I was willing to do, and this week I found the answer.
I’m now the proud owner of a silver orange black 05 that was laid down, and a blue 04 parts bike with body parts missing. Not bad for 800 invested. Let the scrambler build begin! |

That sounds like a good solution for your need to tinker!

I too bought an all too nice 2007 to mod but chose to mod away! Good on you for exercising restraint and common sense
Have fun with the new project, hope to see updates & pics!

Welcome!
Want to know the secret to modifying a vehicle and not ruining it? Tasteful, thorough, and clean modifications done without shortcuts or cost cutting. Build it as if you're trying to sell a product with your name on it. This, coming from a dude who had a thoroughly molested 250 that was also clean and well maintained, and is on his way to a Miata that's modified in a similar fashion. |

This is my 500 after about $2500 worth of mods. Most people probably wouldn't notice much beyond the mufflers. I still have all the original parts, and can put it back to 100% stock other than three small holes that were drilled. Obviously a scrambler is going to require some bigger, more permanent mods, but take your time and do it the right way rather than the cheap/easy way. In the end, you'll be glad you did.

The bright side is tons of these things were made, so if you really mess it up, you can always build a new one.
