Downshifting by itself from 2nd into neutral??

I've been seeing this happen more and more, but if i'm riding in 2nd my bike will sometimes downshift itself into neutral. I'm not sure what the problem is but any advice will be helpful

Adjust the shift lever. You aren't fully getting it into 2nd, so it slips out under harder acceleration.

now that you bring this up, i think it may be the problem. I replaced my shift lever at the beginning of the season and may not have dailed it in very well.

its not downshifting...what's actually happening is that the shifting dogs in the transmission were not fully engaged with your last shift...and when you apply acceleration, they pop out, and it goes to neutral.

What you need to do is make absolutely sure that you give FIRM complete shifts into every gear...particularly 2nd gear.

Motorcycle transmissions are notoriously unforgiving to light shifts from their design. Be sure-footed when you shift.

I've been noticing this problem as well lately. Mine is a 2012 and I haven't done anything to it aside from a double bubble. I am mostly sure it's from not shifting fully into second, but if you find another cause I'd like to hear about it.

i'm shifting firm. i'm pretty sure its because of how i installed the new shift lever. going to take a look at adjusting it when i get home from work.
