Been a while since I updated my BP, so here's one from the Ridge this year on my 300 and one on my 250.

Here's a little video of me riding a lunch lap at the Ridge. I didn't get to coach in 2020 due to stupid Covid so I'm missing riding/coaching a ton

Are the mirrors so you can check your makeup on the straights?

I just noticed your last name. Are you the famous Hurst shifter girl?

Do you hate it when guys ask you stupid questions?

I missed you last year, and I really hope you can come back to the Ridge this year and we run the new chicane, it's a huge improvement to the track in my opinion (more turns is more better :P)

Ha! Yes, all that makeup I wear most certainly NEEDS to be checked while I'm riding, lol. Actually, I have no idea how to wear makeup

Many moons ago when I first started coaching with CSS we DIDN'TT have mirrors on the coach bikes and boy did our necks get tired from having to look back 80 million times in a day. There was also that weird tingly feeling we'd sometimes get when turning into corners, not knowing how close or far away our students were....this way we can keep track of what our students are doing, even if they are BEHIND us.

No, I'm not famous or related to the Hurst Shifters (too bad)

And trust me, you have no idea the amount of stupid questions guys ask me, or the dumb things they say to me some times, lol. Like, YOU can ride THAT?

Thank you I've fixed the link now.

I see you post a lot of helpful information on this forum. I'll be racing for my first time this coming season and wondering if you know anyone that makes a super bike seat or a tank extender for the ninja? I feel like those would help my BP a bit as my transitions from side to side don't "reset" properly at the moment. I'm sure more practice will help but wondering if those aides are available or common? Can't seem to find anything online. I am capable with fiberglass so I can manufacture one myself if there are some guides or DIY.

Not sure exact change you need on seat or tank. I've found putting those grip pads on tank helps. I learned riding-style from '80s which doesn't seem to be needing "locked in" positioning of modern style. This is how I go around corner:

Link to original page on YouTube.

Also slow-speeds in parking lots doesn't have as much centripedal force you would experience on track at higher speeds that help you re-centre on bike coming out of corner.

Perhaps doing figure-8 drills would help you with reset?

What are you feeling are the issues with your transitions? You say you don't "reset" properly? What is your method for transitioning across the bike during transitions? Have you thought about what your body/legs are doing?

Looking real good!

I think for me I'm just not 100 sure what is the focus during a turn- do we always lean the same way? When I'm practicing on the parking lot it's always the same formation and I'm just trying to do it at as high speed as possible and getting as low as I can. I can only presume for a practice that's ok but in real track situations it will vary turn by turn and you won't hit elbow everytime.

In regards to transitioning I am very thankful to be able to train with an BSB racer who's teaching me to use the pfs more and, like you said, use the legs and core to stabilize and to relax the upper body completely in the turn.

In real-world turns, try connect-the-dots of markers: braking start, braking stop, turn-in point, apex, track-out point, straight-away. You look at each spot specifically and change your focus to next spot ahead of time.

For example... turn-11 at Laguna Seca:

- come out of turn-10 on left edge of track, left butt-cheek on seat
- diagonal to right side of track
- scoot butt left and hang left cheek off seat
- look for braking markers, start, end
- brake at 200m mark
- look for turn-in point and apex
- turn in at 100m mark
- look for apex and track-out
- let off brake halfway to apex
- look for track-out point
- add throttle
- hit apex
- look at imaginary path down straight
- full-throttle
- track-out
- scoot back centre of seat and tuck
- look for apex T1
- etc, etc

When there's rapid corners in succession, I don't get into centred position. I go fully from right-cornering to full left-cornering position, even before braking. On long straights, yes, I'll get into tuck... For tight tracks, I spend less time in centre of bike.

Well, the fundamentals of body position stay the same. So we could start by breaking down what good body position is to start with and then discuss how to best keep that body position while transitioning between turns and riding through different corners.

So you say that using the legs and core to stabilize and relax the upper body completely in a turn. That's good. That is absolutely fundamental in regards to body position - in that you are creating a stable lower body by using the legs to squeeze the tank so that the arms can remain relaxed. Yes. What are some other fundamentals of good body position? for example, why do riders even lean off the bike in the first place?

This is a good breakdown! I'd add a few specifications for a few of the instructions to add more detail but otherwise, a good list! I guess because this is a conversation about how to hang off and transition from side to side I'd want to know more about HOW to scoot your butt across the seat. Do you stand up on the pegs to move over, do you slide across, do you use your outside leg to do anything or pull yourself across with the bars?

HOW would you describe moving across the bike in a bit more detail. Do you squeeze the tank under braking? I also love that you mention in quick transitions that you don't stop in the centre of the seat- that's important....as is the timing of WHEN you move across the bike
