Use a siphon to remove most of the fuel then remove the petcock to finish draining.

Let the empty tank air dry then cover any openings prior to doing prep work on it.

I need to do this soon and, well, nothing drains through my petcock. What am I doing wrong?

Unbolt the petcock from the tank.

Here is a link from the DIY EFI kit which shows draining the tank and removal of the hardware.

Turn it to the "Prime" setting. Once it stops, remove the two bolts that hold the petcock to the tank and remove it.

It never starts. I guess I'll just move on to the petcock removal.
