Lightbulb Ammo can saddlebags

Hi all, I’m thinking about putting some ammo cans I have laying around to use, and mounting them to the 250 as cargobags. I found a picture of how I envisioned it but I’m not sure how to go about mounting it. Any input is always appreciated

I'm guessing you would bolt them on where the cargo hooks are.

Are not those heavy ? I have a few used for Win 308 they are small but they are heavy to the point that they will probably maxout the hooks rating on their own. Or yours are plastic ?

Take the bolts out that mount the hooks and remove them. Then use some bolts of the same size but a bit longer to mount the cans.

The hooks come off and bolts thread into the frame in there place. You would need spacers to keep the cases off the bike. I would make a frame out of flat bar that the bolts pass through and use angle at the bottom to support the case. I would also triangulate the frame to the rear peg mounts. With those three points bolted to the bike, it will support the case.

You should then be able to run three or four bolts through the side of the case into the flat bar frame and use rubber washers and it should be good.

Probably going to do it this way. Thanks for the detail. Didnt know there were even bolts under the cargo hooks.

How much weight you plan on carrying will dictate mounting method. I second Artruck’s excellent idea of making metal frame. You’ll want three mounting points to prevent fatigue on brackets. Two top ones and one bottom one connected to lower frame rail. I would then weld or braze boxes to frame to make it all one-piece and simple.
