How many miles have you logged?

How many miles in the saddle do you all have under your belt? Count miles ridden on any motorcycle.
On a side note, what is the longest distance you've ridden in one trip?

I've prob got about 30K spanned across 9 bikes. Longest I've ridden is about 1500 miles in 1 weekend. Wish I had time to ride more though.

I'm right at 8K across three bikes. Truthfully it would be more than that if I had more money to spend on gas. Apparently riding 60-70 miles a day, five days a week in the summer costs a lot, even on a bike.

Longest I've ridden in a day is somewhere in the 150-200 mile range. I lost exact count.

My mileage will drop a bit this year, as I will be taking the car to work. My daughter starts middle school this year, and I'm taking her to the school I work at. We are already looking at suits for her, but I don't think I'll be taking her on the bike until next year. Even then it will probably only be twice a week at most. Looks like I will be a weekend warrior for about three years. Oh well.

I've logged nearly 8k since I started riding last September. All commuting really, so the longest ride I've ever been on has been under 100 miles.

Wow this is very hard to answer but I would estimate that I have approximately 150,000 miles under my belt.
My longest trip in one day was 600 miles. My whole body was sore after that. My but, back, legs and arms. Ouch!

Best I can calculate, a little less than 150k miles. Some years I put on much more than 15k miles, some years quite a bit less. Of those, about 15K of those miles are on 250's.

I've done a number of 24-hr rallies (riding for 24 hrs straight). Usual mileage on those is between 1000 - 1100 miles over that time period, but one back in 2009 worked out to 1,400+ miles over that 24-hr period.

Have you ever signed up for an IBA (iron butt) or LDR (long distance)?
I'd love to show this post to my dad, as yesterday when we were wiring in some more brake lights, looking for a place to put a 12v he says, "yeah the ninjas arent meant for long distances like our concours's are, town riding only." I told him anywhere he wants to go on his connie I'll lead on the 250. I have to hold my tongue a little though, as he's the one that helps me work on all the bikes I buy.

Yes - I'm an IBA member, and each of those rallies gets people a cert for a SS1K if they apply for it. I've done one of them on a ZX-12R, but the others have been on BMW's. But - there are people who do attempt them on 250's, and as has been posted a few times here, there are even folks who have taken 250's on the actual Iron Butt Rally (11 days of 1000+ miles/day across the US). There's nothing mechanical that would keep a well-maintained 250 from going as far as one would ever desire. But - that doesn't mean it's the most comfortable choice out there for extended rides either. I take umbrage on those who would say that these types of rides are impossible on our ninjettes. But I wouldn't argue if people felt that there are features on sport-touring and pure touring bikes that make them somewhat more suited for extended long-distance travel.

I average about 100 miles per MONTH on my bike. Yes, I know, I'm lame. But my bike is not transportation for me, it's just a way to relax on the weekends. I do plan to ride more in the near future, though.

lol... miles. what a concept.

on the street, about 30-40k, I'd say in my lifetime, but recently on the dirtbike, we ride all day long, get back to the truck and find we've only covered like 12-15 miles.

yes, we ride some hard miles and are dead tired by the end of the day.

besides, riding should be measured by the amount of smiles, not miles.

probably somewhere close to 100k. As far as miles in one trip, around 800 to colorado from phoenix and then another 800 back. it was about 16-17 hours each way.

I dunno how many. I have had bikes that I ran up 40k and 50k on them. I'd hafta guess 150k-ish +. Longest in one day? I did south carolina here to pennsylvania, close to erie. I think about 700 miles. That was on a CBR 900RR (my first sport bike). I put 300+ on the 250 the first day I had it out.

I would think around 1 million or more. I started very young.

I probably have 100,000 track miles.

I've ridden for a little more than 10,000 miles. My longest ride was about 200 miles. But most days out of a week I ride nearly 100 miles a day so I guess 200 isn't much more.

I stopped keeping track but I was at just about 150,000 miles when I got hurt in 2009.

My longest single trip was in 2008, when I rode solo from San Francisco to Key West, FL. My husband shipped his bike out there, then we rode together from Key West up the east coast to his parents' house in Ohio, then my mom's in Wisconsin, and then back to California. It was about 6 weeks and about 9000 miles.

I did about 10k miles in the summer of 2005, too, when I rode to Wisconsin and back and then up to Canada two weeks later, but those were technically two separate trips.

About 5300 miles since I started riding last September. I've been really depressed recently because I couldn't ride every day because of the rain and storms we have been having lately.

About 4500 miles so far with a lot more ahead of me

4k on the ninja and about .5k on a kawa eliminator. Looking forward to trying out some more bikes but there's no 'ticket to ride' events around here so I'm stuck with bugging the dealers xD

Logged about 19k miles over the last 3 years. Would be more, but due to the job I can't commute on the ninjette but on occasion.

Longest trip I've done was about 800mi round, going to the Kentucky Derby this year.

Edit: New longest trip was 1400mi over 5 days, going to/from/around the Dragon (US129).

I did 35K last year alone (Took the summer off for personal reasons.. traveled). The last day of a 3 week long road trip over 10,000 miles I rode 900 miles home. Guess I was smelling the barn. You guys who do miles know how hard that is to do!

Longest official ride was a SS 1090 miles in 19hrs. I've done longer, and a bunch much shorter that felt longer.

there's some really impressive numbers here... makes me feel like a sissy for not riding more.
on minibikes... hard to estimate, no odometers, but i would guess around 1k. it's hard when you can't go above 25mph.
on scooters i have between 5-6k.
on motorcycles i have around 20k.
cars... well who cares about cars but only about 200k.
longest trips on the bikes have only been single state crossings... about 400mi in a day

I've peddled more than 22,000 miles in my lifetime so far.. that accounts for more road experience than most people think.

On a bicycle, one need to conserve energy output, aware for any minimal margin for safe massage and master your capability of acceleration and deceleration.

IMO, it should be a mandatory requirement for driver's license and motorcycle license exams to include a period (of 1 month, 45 days or even more) of bicycle operating on public roads. Not only would that produce safer drivers/riders that are more understanding of the dangers that every bicyclists face on public roads; but also reduce motor vehicle operation and traffic.

Not everyone deserve the privilege of operating a motorized vehicle and burn fossil fuel as they please... similarly, not everyone deserve to procreate.

IMO, bicycles have ABSOLUTELY NO business operating on public roads. Currently, they are banned from interstates and I believe that should be expanded to secondary roads as well. They are a nuisance and danger to themselves and others. Having a mandatory requirement to operate a bicycle that requires no license or special skills to get a drivers license or a motorcycle license that does is a FOOLISH and not well thought out idea. Thank goodness I would not have to risk my life by law to see how idiotic riding a bicycle on the street is to gain my other licenses.
Limiting the use of bicycles to sidewalks, neighborhoods and at most possibly inside city limits I feel should be implemented.
I have ZERO guilt burning all the fossil fuel that I want to. Not trying to make friends or enemies here, just speaking my mind.

Bicycles really shouldnt be on public roads. The gear they wear is completely inadaquate, the helmets are sub-standard, and the dangers they pose to themselves along with normal vehicle traffic is extremely high.

The interstates have laws set in place to prevent people that are not capable of keeping up with traffic off of them...and so should regular roads.

One nice thing they have done here is install bicycle only lanes for the bicyclists. It really is a much safer way to do things and works out better for everyone.

Im not against bicycles or the people that enjoy them. I used to ride all the time too, but I am against them being on public roads.

I resent my tax money being used to build "bike only" lanes. What taxes are generated from bicycle use that pays for that??? NONE .... oh wait maybe that fossil fuel tax that I pay does that.

According to most is not all states' traffic laws.. bicycles belong on the roads just as any other vehicle.. your opinions though noted, but wrong.

Bicyclist pay no road taxes, but at the same time they do not cause nearly as much damage to the roads.

When gas price in the US balance out with the rest of the world, do you think bicycle traffic are going to reduce?

It's not so much about how much 'guilt' you have for burning up fossil fuel, it's how much further do you see into the future that fossil fuel should go away to sustain the planet.

Are you kids or grand kids going to be able to live in similar fashion as you do?

Are they going to be able to go into the wild and enjoy the activities that you've done in your childhood?

I used to ride my bicycle 2-3 miles to school as a kid. Nowadays, kids can't even walk more than two blocks to catch a school bus. While the school bus stops every few blocks, all the traffic backs up.. all of them burning up fossil fuel and polluting the air... and kids are getting more and more obese.
Really got our priorities straight guys.

A you are correct. Bicycles on the road IS "lawful". But against my opinion of what I believe is "right"... or for that matter "smart" (as a matter of safety)for the bicycle rider or driving public. Saying that they belong... no. If a vehicle cannot keep up and maintain speed with regular traffic then it does NOT belong on highway. That is why they are illegal on the interstates. They do not "belong" there either.

Will it save the world from its consumption of fossil fuels? Doubtful.
