Thumbs up Good Gear saves lives!

Just came across this....http://www.iomtt.com/News/2010/06/28...equipment.aspx on the Isle of Man TT website. I remember watching this crash in the film TT3D: Closer to the Edge, a while back and was amazed at how well the gear help up. But these pictures are worth a thousand words.

And it looks like an AGV brand helmet will be my next helmet.

I will only buy Dainese from now on. I have a pair of Dainese boots and love them so I can only imagine how nice their leathers are.

really makes you think twice about skimping on gear. Definitely getting a ce level 2 back protector asap.

Yup, see attached study for some scientific backup on this. Dianese is great gear, but there are other brands that also provide outstanding protection. Rev'It, Sidi, Aerostich, Motoport, Held and many others have good reputations for quality gear.

Just don't buy their protectors, they don't have such a good reputation in that department.

And where is that video where an SBK rider got his head run over in a race? He stayed conscious the entire time and survived without any pain in his head. It was either a Shark helmet or an Airoh, I couldn't figure it out based on his pictures and his sponsors.

EDIT: Here.

And the video:

Link to original page on YouTube.

REEDIT: Just saw that that Dainese back protector. Who knows, I am going based off some tests I read about at some point somewhere by someone.

Smart people buy good gear that saves their lives. And they convince their friends to do likewise.

On the Island, & any other road race for that matter, all crashes are brutal.

He lost it at 170mph or so, his average speed over a lap was 130+ mph, that includes going through villages

Well worth a watch

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIs6kTVcdOI

and Conor Cummins #10 crashed not long after http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y07yt87lhEA

skip to 36 seconds in if you're lazy...

Yeah, Isle of Man is ridiculous! The riders are absolutely insane to want to ride there. Although I must admit that I've always wanted to go see it for myself haha

I think the word you're looking for is brilliant...

There's a good few road races in Ireland, 15-20 quid for a weekend's racing where you're a few feet from the racers

Nice pics! I'm jealous that you've got to go watch a road race before. There are absolutely none around where I live, but there are a ton of tumbleweeds

I guess on the bright side his bike will be lighter for his next race due to all the missing pieces
