The light only switched once a car pulled up behind me... that is so annoying..

I heard that some people buy a "sensor" or something like that to help fix this problem..

Does anybody have a suggestion on which sensor to buy or other equipment? It's getting to the point where I am going to have to start running red lights, which I do not want to do.

Thanks everyone!

Use common safety sense and run 'em.

I had no idea I could do this in North Carolina. Hell yeah. I have a light down the street I have sat at for 10 mins because the light would not change and I sat there waiting for another car to come.

Check your state and see if there is a law that allows the same as others.

Check the link for the story. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/...ght-laws_N.htm

Missouri & Virginia have also adopted similar laws.

Georgia could next to approve a similar law as well.

North Carolina General Statute 20-158 allows a motorcycle to proceeed through a red light under limited circumstances. This statute is meant to serve as a defense to any citation issued to a motorcyclist for proceeding through a red light that qualifies under the statute.

A group of us (10 Ninja 250's) had to run a light a couple of years ago on our way to the Diamondback. Didn't matter how many bikes we had on the ground sensor.

http://www.safe-route.org/laws/State...-warticles.pdf

13 States had allowances for un-responsive lights for motorcycles or both motorcycles and
bicycles. All the states language only specified that the operator proceed with caution and not
interfere with another’s ROW who was lawfully crossing (language varies). They do not provide
the additional guidance and restrictions in HB327. Wait time varies.
o Bicycle and Motorcycle
 Colorado – non-intersections only, “several” cycles, 1995
Idaho – Bicycles don’t need to wait, m/c one full cycle,
Illinois – Other than Chicago, reasonable period of time
Kansas – reasonable period of time
Pennsylvania – no time period, treat as stop sign, 2001
 South Carolina – 2 minutes, 2008
 Tennessee – no time limit
Virginia – lesser of 2 cycles or 2 minutes, treat as stop sign, 2011
Wisconsin – 45 seconds (Bicycles do not need to wait a specific time), 2005
o Bicycle Only
 None Found
o Motorcycle Only
 Arkansas – no time limit
Minnesota – unreasonable time, before 2002
Oklahoma – no time limit, 2010
 North Carolina - 3 Minutes

A traffic light that does not detect you is a malfunctioning traffic light and should be treated as such. If you are ticketed, it is a easy ticket to beat.

Put a couple of Red Light Magnets under your bike one on the lower Right and Left side. Pull up to where the magnetic strips meet just above the white stop line. These are strong magnets I got mind at Amazon.com They really Work guys.

I usually turn right on red (legal where I am) and just make a turn back in the direction I originally wanted to go. Or if I'm at a location that does not a right on red, I just shut the motor off and push the bike across as a pedestrian. Only had to do that once. Kinda sucked.

i have the same problem going into my neighborhood from the freeway. The red light doesn't turn for me. If i make a right turn its all non bike friendly red light for another 3 miles . So i don't even have the option of making right turn and then a U-turn. My option is taking an early exit off the freeway and run local for 10 minutes.

You sure about that? Commuting by bike for graveyard shifts, I had a list of induction loop sensor lights in San Diego which NEVER worked for me on the bike. Not just hard, difficult, or sometimes working, but NEVER working without a car coming to save me. I added a Green Light Trigger XP or HP or whichever was the strongest. After years or testing not even a single one was ever triggered with it. They continued working right away with any car. I tried every trick in the book too: Kickstand, starter, aligning rims, leaning, any and all combinations of these, etc.

Cow magnets. I just zip tied one through the drain hole on the TLR and it sits about 6 inches off the ground. Fixed all the "no signal lights" on my route but for one.

You would be amazed how much stuff that little bugger picks up off the road.

Just to be sure I have this right, in PA, I can run a malfunctioning redlight, with no wait time. Is this just lefts, or all directions?

all directions. You do need to know that it is malfunctioning (not detecting you) So if it is a light you know does not detect motorcycles, just teat it like a stop sign. If you are unfamiliar with the light you will need to sit a minute before running.
