New Video: How to remove the carbs on a pregen

I finally got around to removing the carbs today and decided to record a video on how its done. I wasn't able to find a video on youtube that actually showed the correct procedure, so I made this video.

Link to original page on YouTube.

Yep, that's my bike. Seems like it takes me forever to work on them any more. I'm always having to do other things.

Anyhow, I got some 30R9 fuel hose which is supposed to be E85 resistant. So it should work for regular gas (E10). I haven't had a chance to actually clean it yet though.

Just a note, always disconnect the + terminal first and reconnect it last to avoid sparking. You did it the other way around. Other than that, the video looks good.

Did that actually take you 6 minutes?

Actually, the video is correct. Disconnect the neg first. If you accidentally short the neg to the frame while you are removing it, then nothing happens. If you start with the pos and accidentally short that to the frame, then sparks will fly and any gasoline drips may ignite.

Then reconnect backwards - pos first.

But since most people will be using a screwdriver, its pretty hard to short that to the frame. Its more of a factor when people use socket or crescent wrenches that can swing over and bang into the tank.

Yep, it was more like 10 minutes.

So I have pods and have been meaning to try this since my carbs have a really slow leak. I am hoping I just need a new gaskets on both sides.

A slow leak indicates faulty float valves.

A slow leak could also indicate your petcock isn't shutting the gas off. Its the easiest to check. Just pull the hose off when its switched to ON with the bike off and see if it still comes out.

I used a different microphone this time. Sounds a bit softer than the old one.
