Found gasket when cleaning oil screen!

Sup guys, I was doing a oil change on my 2006 ninja 250 and decided to also clean the oil screen. I removed the oil screen and I found a gasket sitting on top of the oil screen. Can someone help me identify it and where does it go? Thanks for any help, I gladly appreciate it.

WOW! That's an incredible journey for something that big to make it from the head to the filter!
(And not plug up & cause oil starvation at some point)

Thanks for the friendly welcome and help guys ! No oil is seeping into the spark plug hole. Anyone know the process to reinstall the gasket back to its original location ? Thanks again!

Remove valve cover. Remove cam shaft bearing caps. It's a gasket under one of those.

I can't imagine the gasket slipping, its gotta be a spare that someone lost when they took the cams out for some reason, and they just bought a new one.

Or.....replaced it with silicone or some other goopy sealant. Potentially blocking an oil hole.

I'd be looking but I'm anal about that stuff.

Yeah, take the camholder off and look at it, but I wouldn't be freaking out.

Well guys, I took the valve cover off and removed the caps and guess what ? Both of the gaskets were there! I guess the one I found during my oil change must have been one that fell into the engine. Better safe than sorry. Thanks for all the help you guys. Now I can sleep soundly at night haha😀
