Those look nice Danno, too bad they're charging so much for them! $70 seems pretty steep for some little led lights.

oh wow, I didn't check pricing, that does seem bit high.

Same kit, comes with surrounding bezel, harness and choice of lenses for different indicator functions. $54

Okay, that's a tidy piece. Somehow $54 doesn't seem as bad when I account for the little mount, wiring, etc. Good find!

I use one if these for voltmeter on my track bike. USB ports powers my front & rear cameras so I don't have to deal with charging batteries. Also charges phone when I'm in pits

I have MLK day off, so I went for a chilly, somewhat damp ride today. I was determined to get a legit test run in on the 250 though as it's been well over a month since I got a good ride on on either bike. (I intended to get the 650 out Saturday morning only to find a dead battery). So today was the day to run the Ninja, rain or shine.
It did pretty good. No hiccups and the suspension is better than it was before what with the new springs and rear shock. I suspect I could have gotten away with 0.80kg/mm as the .85s are a little hard; maybe they'll settle in though. I kinda wish I had sprung for a YSS rear shock instead of being frugal and getting a used Ninja 300 shock; the back end still squats and bucks and squirms all over when I'm getting on it. Maybe that has something to do with the little 120 rear tire I'm running though. A 130 may improve that. Or I could add a click or two of preload.
The Vapor gauge is nice and does its job. Not much to say about it beyond that, although I miss the analog tach. I hooked up some cheap dummy lights for oil and neutral. I still need to check my speedometer against gps but I doubt it's that far off from reality. My gut tells me it's closer to true speed than the factory gauge was. The Trail Tech piece records maximums, so I zero'd everything before I left this morning and recorded it:

Nice ride! Bike's looking good!

Yeah, my Vapour was spot-on after doing front-wheel roll-out. Ended up about 9% slower readout than stock.

Odd, mine does... It's a curved bar-graph under the numbers from bottom-left to upper-right of display. I had to insert inline resistor to coil wire to get stable signal.

No, it has a tach, just not the round kind with the swinging needle It has a digital readout and a bar-style tach. Both are fine, but not what I'm used to. It does have a staged shift-light that I like. I have the yellow shift light set to 10k and the red light set to flash at 12.5k (or somewhere there abouts, I can't remember, whatever the redline is on the stock gauge is what I set it to).
I got out today, actually. I met up with my riding partner this afternoon and did the same route I did Monday, but it was pretty warm today so I really got to put the bike through its paces. It did fantastically well; I ran 28/32psi f/r on the tires, and preload on the rear shock is on the 3rd from the bottom. The bike is much more planted than it was Monday, although I can still tell the front end is a little abrupt. I'm using a fair amount of travel though, so I don't think I'll mess with it just yet. I also installed a 15t front sprocket last night and it seems to be in the sweet spot more now. My buddy was following and he said the engine sounded great. I just kept it right around 9-10k and the power was right there. It really turns in great, and handles the tight stuff wonderfully. It's not too much fun above 70mph; those little 16" wheels feel small at those speeds. I'm glad to have my SV for any rides further than DeLuz. Overall it was a real blast though, and I think it's the best tool for those roads.

Feb 1st and it's cold, relatively speaking, in California. Neither bikes are being ridden but I wanted to let the 250 get warm and idle for a bit seeing as Gordon did such a nice job on the carbs. This is as close as I get to riding right now:

They do! The LEDs are very bright too, but the flash rate is a little slow. I need a different relay... I've seen people complain about flash rates on different LEDs and I know there are a couple different types of LED flasher relays. I just need one that is a little quicker. It works for now though.

The bike is really running great though, even with the old gas. I Sta-bil'ed it last week or two and it helped a lot. I want to burn it up and get a fresh gallon in there.

Got out on my local route yesterday. It was hitting low 90s but not bad overall. I got the bike good and hot and it never overheated, so that's good. I put about 60 miles on it and my confidence is growing in this bike. The engine seems to be holding up to an hour+ straight of 10k and I flushed the oil right after and it seemed pretty clean. I think I would benefit from a 130 tire on the back; that 120 squirms a lot. Gosh, good luck finding 16" sport tires anymore though. I'll run this down to the threads. I was also surprised to discover that the original speedometer is not as inaccurate as I had suspected, it seems to be about 5mph optimistic up around 60-70mph. I can account for that.

Well, Gordon did some good work on the carbs, and that's half the battle. I've just been keeping a minimum of fresh Sta-Bil'd gas in it and running it hard when I get the chance. Other than that I'm just listening for grenade sounds

I keep an eye out for 300s on ebay, and I have to wonder how that would change this machine. It has a plethora of weaknesses, but they balance each other out. I figure I have somewhere between 25-30hp and I'm using all of it now. If I go 300 with stock 250 carbs I guess that would put me about 35hp, which would certainly change the balance of the bike. Dunno if that would be for the better. Oh well, I'm not changing anything unless this 250 pukes its guts. Even then, it will be hard to not just sell it for parts and get an R3 or similar.

EX500 engine swap... Same effort as 300 for double power ~60bhp.
No trial & error carb-tuning needed since EX500 carbs are already oprimised for that engine.

I agree with Danno on that one swap the engine for 60hp and you will have something there !
Personally I don't need to go THAT fast when I go.... I just need to go MORE ! HAHAHAH
....
well, My springs for the RX4 should be here today and I'm going to take the Triumph into the shop in a bit.... maybe I'll leave the Triumph by the door and take the RX4 in there instead.... I think the Triumph can be easily worked on outside but the RX4 needs the shop .... so
I think I have a plan..... some time soon I want to take the Ninja out for a spin
.... I'm still hesitant about it reving up slowly though.... maybe after a run it will clear out and run good again... Bikes do not like to sit for long times !
..... and that is what they do around here ... I need more energy..if any one has an extra quart or two I'll take it ! HAHAHAHA !

Huh, I did not know the 500 was a bolt-in. They certainly are cheaper than 300s, I will have to investigate.

This bike does NOT need 60hp though!
