August 20 and 21. Sat and Sunday in Palmer. I am buying in tonight so I can do both days. Need the time on the track and hope it is not my last track day for the year.

Working on the August dates... TBD depending on funds.
@backinthesaddleagain, if I make it you're welcome to pit with Ant and me. Usually we set up shop near the top of the hill, just up from the big tent. If it rains, it's the garage (which is rented by the bay, so the more the merrier... a bay can hold four bikes).

I will be at Thompson this Sunday, July 31, riding in yellow. Anyone else?

A friend of mine will be there sunday on his red SuperHawk. Steve - good guy, riding yellow I think. Hi might have a silver/gold chevy pick up pulling a camper.

Just pulled the trigger on August 20/21. The 20th should be terrific... just 75 riders across all groups. For the red folks, there are no first-timers.

If it looks like rain, I'll be doing the garage thing. If not, likely the EZ-up.

I saw a guy with a Red Super Hawk at Thompson on Sunday. I could not remember his name nor could I recall your name at the time Greg so I did not talk to him. I wish my memory was better! I will be at Palmer on Sat and Sunday Aug 20 and 21 so I hope we can do a few laps together. Always great to meet more members at the track. No where near the list Chris has met but its starting to get fairly long!

On another note, looks like the 748 motor will need a rebuild or I will just buy another motor for next season. I may just part it out and make the 999 a full blown track bike with most of the same stuff Andrew has on his R6.

Why didn't you just ask him his name? Most people are nice and friendly at the track, not me, but most people.

Steve was on the red superhawk - enjoying it with gixxer front end on it. I still say he should have kept his RC8R.

CC - come up for Razee day in Sept.

That is definitely the bike I saw. I was wondering what front end he had used since the Hawk never came with radial mono block calipers nor fully adjustable forks. Bike looked and sounded great. I did not see Steve at his bike and there were a couple people behind the easy up near his bike. Since I could not remember his name nor Gregs at that time and the Wife and I were leaving I did not get an opportunity to speak with him. I think my buddy Mike may have spoke with him (guy with a really jacked grey PitBull). He has a Hawk and was going to ask him about the bike but I have not spoken to Mike since Sunday. I hope I will get another chance to meet Steve and all of you guys and girls. Can never know too many people at the track!

I pulled the wheels of the 999 and took them and my new tires down to the local shop to have the Q3's mounted. Should have them back today (Thursday). I hope to get out on the streets this weekend to get a little burn in on them. I don't want to go to Palmer with new un-scrubbed tire which I have never run on before. The streets will not be anything like the track but at least I will get some idea of how the feel compared to the Angels. I can wait for next weekend! Come on Sat Aug 20!

Starting pressures at 30/30 and go DOWN as the day heats up. I have q3's down to a science at this point. Around lunch, lower the front to 27.5psi and the rear to 26psi. When you are ready and the conditions are good enough (dry and 89+deg), drop the front to 27 or 26.5 and the rear to 25. They will give amazing feedback but not too much, and will stick to the track better than a fat tick on a dog.

Go fast for me!

I'll second these pressures, I've never had so much grip on Q3s as I did on Chris' R6 running those pressures at Mid-O They felt like GP-A level grip. Still convinced that the Q3 is the best track/street tire (michelins are better for pure street/pirellis better for pure track to me but the Q3s are a damn good tire)

Pressures noted and I will follow. I have been trying to get some street time on them before I hit the track but the weather and schedule do not seem to want to work together. I dont want my first ride on these tires to be in a downpour! I am hoping tomorrow will give me some dry pavement to scrub them in. Thanks for the info on the pressure settings as I would not know what to do after I set my initial for the first session. I will go as fast as I can for you and me both, Mid O taught me a lot and I think it will show at Palmer! Hope to have some pictures for the Body Position thread after this trip!

Extended forecast for Saturday is 80's with partly cloudy skies! Looks like no rain after Wednesday and continued hot sunny weather! Only 75 riders split into 3 groups on a 2 mile+ long track, should be an awsome time to try out my new tires! I know what Steves bike looks like now so I will stop by and say HI this time and I hope to see you there on Sunday. I think Andrew and I will be in the Garage so we can have a fan and it will take less time to set up and clean up before and after the event! This is going to be a great trip.

Cool. I've got green and black 636 with carbon tank guards and engine guards. Other than that pretty stock looking. Obviously a Tony's sticker on the windshield but also a penguin B sticker there also.

@backinthesaddleagain,

Ant is getting a garage bay, which can easily hold four bikes. So you and Steve are more than welcome to hang with us. I'm on the blue/yellow R6 with the red tank you've seen in various photos. Ant will be on a red Duc 999.

PM your phone to Ant and me so we can stay in touch. Once we're set we'll let you know exactly where we are.

What group are you guys riding in? Ant and I are both yellow.

Hoping they've got the showers working by now.....

I think it's Steve and his buddy Chris but not 100% sure. I'll send pm. Typically ride blue but since I haven't been on track in a year maybe will do yellow, especially with you guys and Steve running yellow.

Ant, if you do get rain tires, here's a little nugget of wisdom that Noel from MTAG shared with me:

You can brake as hard as you like.
You can drag a knee on them.
You can accelerate like crazy.

But you can only do one of those things at a time.

They really are magic. You know I'm on the slow end... but I was passing people left and right last May, including superbikes.

Ben has not yet replied so I am not sure if I will get them. I wont even use them this year as I will not have them for this weekend and I am not sure If I will go again this year. I will just get a set of WHEELS for them for next year or put them on the 748 as my wet bike!

If you do decide to get them it's $30 + shipping. The condition is slightly used but they'll grip in the wet and they have some life left. I'll post up pics when I stop by my parents house where they're being stored

I believe there is enough life left to get you through ~2 rain days, possibly more if they never run on dry pavement

Hey Folks - I'll be at NYST Sept 3 & 4th with EvolveGT and it would be great to know who might be able to make it. There's nothing more fun than 250/300's running together as you guys know.

The forecast for the Weekend at Palmer is Partly cloudy and mid 80's for both days so far! Not a chance for the R___ word so far but you know what they say about the Weather in New England!.........

I would love to do the trip up to NYST on the 3rd N 4th but I am going to NJ to go sailing. I made a deal with one of my friends--if I go sailing he will come try the track next season. I think there is a better chance of him getting addicted to the track than me needing to return to the sea!

Shipped, not sure if they'll make it by Sunday but the forecast is looking good for you guys. I'm looking at rain races myself

edit: I double checked, it is the 2 day shipping so it should be there on Friday if all goes well
