If you're in the market for an R6 there are several potential good deals floating around in MD
$3500 for an '05 http://baltimore.craigslist.org/mcy/4291795156.html
$4500 for an '07 http://baltimore.craigslist.org/mcy/4322443033.html
typically I don't see any supersports below $5000 unless there's something glaringly wrong with them.
There's also this guy trying to sell 3 bikes at reasonable cost though his taste in bikes screams hooligan. http://baltimore.craigslist.org/mcy/4246272103.html I'm interested in his wr250x more than his triumph though.

There is nothing on the price level as the OP though, those are just impressive. I'd invest in a few and make some travel money over the summer.

I was thinking I was going to wait for the stupid ktm rc390 to hit USA but not looking like until 2015 at earliest, if at all.... i'z aint'z got'z da patience fo dat!!!

So I feel like as soon as I sell one or two things I have up for sale here and there I am pouncing on a bike. I have my eyes set on one or two bikes if I can find one decent and then grand plans for it once I have it all to myself

There is a bike I could buy right now but I need the extra change from selling things to be able to work on it So I don't want to buy it and have it sit around for 2 months before I can do much with it. That being said anyone want to buy a truck? huh? any takers?

AHHH!! Cabin fever has set in hard for me this winter, im going crazy...er

This is likely a stupid question...

Do you have to register a track only bike?

Not here you don't, maybe there though. You need a bill of sale to prove its yours but not a title.

SUBXERO I also am looking at the RC390 and I was sad to hear it wont be available till 2015. Remember when you do buy a bike choose something you can (potentially) trade in for the RC when they arrive. Try to buy a bike you can ride and fix up so when you get a chance at the RC you can use it as a deposit (hopefully over 50%) towards the new bike provided you don't fall in love with the first bike and have to keep it along with the new bike. I guess that is my plan for now I will keep and track my SV till I get to test ride the 390. Good luck

^ I'm not very good at selling things (hoarder )and the next bike I buy will be a keeper for life unless something crazy comes up and I need cash or else and if all goes to plan and I can get bike set up as I have in my mind the ktm rc390 will be a distant after thought.

As much as I like the rc390 on paper I still need to ride it as I am not so sure I will like the thumper engine

hmmm I guess I don't "need" another dirt bike, BUT!! I have always wanted to own a 500 2smoker and the price seems about right. (normally these list for more with no history which = complete rebuild )

http://altoona.craigslist.org/mcy/4322924114.html

Don't even know what I would do with all that power and insta torque, well I guess I kinda do

P.S. Plus 1994 was an awesome year for KAW

Buy her and make her a supermoto. Would be scary and unforgivable on pavement, but would be challenging and fun!!!

pretty sure you can't make a 2smoker street legal in PA

^ yeah not sure at least for a dirtbike? I think you can get older 2stroke streetbikes tagged and titled with out much hassle but to convert an MX bike to street is gonna be decent work.
PA has it in legislation you can customize a bike to street, and emissions here are pretty lax so it might be possible.

I guess you could swap engine into sumo frame, might be easiest thing to do but still have to figure out how to wire up battery? all that jazz as the MX bike is going to be bare bones when it comes to electrical stuff. Then figure out how to get head pipe to fit?

Would be ultimate hooligan bike though

I messaged him and told him I would trade my long range sniper rifle (less the optics) for it straight up. Lets hope he likes guns

for a dirtbike it's fine, but I feel like you'd run into problems with emissions when you go to make it street legal. In MD there's no way they'll let a 2stroke of any kind be street legal and I consider MD emissions to be lax. Not sure how it is in PA though. The only bike related thing that I know about in PA is the fact that you locos can choose to ditch the brain bucket.

emissions here is a "visual inspection" hahaha gets me everytime I say it.

No motorcycle mechanic inspection guy is going to even note it on the sheet so you are GTG

Talking

There are ways. One way is to have it registered as a custom motorcycle. But I was thinking more of a supermoto for the track!!! Street would be very impractical. You'd need to mix gas and you'd smell like oil all the time. Sounds pretty annoying...

well, it wouldn't be his only bike and I'd say that it's advantages are quite clear to be worth smelling like oil from time to time.

Wait for a particularly nice day in the next few weeks where a parking lot would dry up.

have the guy or you trailer it to a big empty walmart like parking lot and take it for a couple loops after warming it up.

#1 check the paper work matches the bike vin
#2 Look it over super careful for damage, leaks, bad bearings, cables, chain
#3 Start it up and wait for it to warm all the way up
#4 check the lights kill switch breaks horn and all that jazz
#5 Get on it and take it for an easy ride checking how the clutch gears and breaks feel
#6 Get on the throttle hard in 1-3 those gears are often where they pop out of gear under hard acceleration

if it looks and sounds good and runs right start haggling haha
the devil is in the details .... dont want to get on a bike that is in disrepair and ride it .... makes you liable for pending issues and your risking your neck

Good luck with it !

The right pipe and a little engine work and jetting could have you sitting at around 70hp on a bike that weighs 220lbs ish that's 700hp/ton

Ignore the power, you're still on a bike that only weighs 220lbs add a lightweight rider onto that and you're looking at a total package weighing under 380lbs which is less than my ninja 300 by itself. That thing would grip the road like an absolute monster mid corner.

you would have to lug it through the turns until you were back almost upright. Once the powerband kicks in on it you would never keep the rear tire connected.

You could drift the hell out of it though

PA has it in legislation you can customize a bike to street, and emissions here are pretty lax so it might be possible.

Would be ultimate hooligan bike though

CRAIGS LIST DELIVERS lol a bit pricey though !
