Oil in front wheel bars

Hi guys i got a time i don't visit the forum, but now im visiting the forum with a problem

The monday i was riding the ninja and when i pass a bump or a bad place i hear like a screech, before that i saw the left bar that conect the wheel, where is the speed cable got oil, i was thinking that oil was from the seal of the bars, but i change the seals like 6 months ago, i put some pictures to you can see the oil.

the balls inside the bar that connect the wheel use oil or not? idk

i hope and it is not a serious problem

Even though your fork seals are only 6 months old they can still leak. Leaked can be caused by dirt and debris that collect on the forks, build up and then cause a leak by getting trapped underneath the seals. For this reason you should always wipe off your forks before and after a ride. The seals can be cleaned out with a seal cleaning tool made of thin plastic or you can make one by cutting a plastic milk jug. I will try and find a link for you.

Can you tell where the oil is coming from? If not, clean the area thoroughly and then watch to see where it comes from.

Could be just some grease from speedo drive, melted by heat.
Clean it really well and it should not come back.

Fork seals certainly are not "forever". Even replacement can offer fitment issues....specifically....

On my then 18 year old Honda VFR, I replaced leaking fork and dust seals with All Balls brand, using their correct part # application for my VFR....INSTANT weepage/leakage. decided to acquire OEM Honda seals...problem solved. There was a tiny size differential not discernible by eye....lesson learned...never again aftermarket fork seals on any of my stuff. OEM only. Way too much labor to justify "do-overs".

I’m still betting that the fork seals are leaking.

hmmmm, the damper bolts have copper washers for sealing purposes ....leaking there perhaps? Were those bolts removed and washers *reused* or replaced during initial fork service?

hey @Darksik....any fork oil present when you carefully inspect or wipe the actual fork tubes? Is the leakage grease or fork oil?

The outside of the lower tube is a bit of a stretch for speedo drive grease to migrate to, but a leaky copper seal washer on a damper bolt...hmmmm.

Hmm, looking closer at photos, it appears the oil that's on there is quite old with lots of dirt and dust on them.

Suppose it's possible this is first time OP's noticed it and it's been there all this time?

I still say clean entire fork, completely clean. So clean that you can lick it and not taste any oil. Then watch for oil leaking from above starting at seals.

A couple people have suggested that already but have not heard back from @Darksik yet.

Sorry to answer late, but what is strange is that I had never heard that noise last Friday, until tomorrow I have time to clean the motorcycle bar, to see if it is not leakage or is what came when the seal was leaking oil

Noise is not related to oil leak.
Leak has happened for long time, months if not years.
Well, might be caused by low oil-level inside fork.

44045 GASKET,FORK CYLINDER BOLT 44045-051

they ain't callin it a gasket for nuthin'

I'll wager they were reused, not replaced in prior fork seal service, heck the damper bolt may even be loose! Worth a look in the online parts microfiche.

Also probably didn't use torque-wrench on that bolt. Copper's soft and deforms to seal, but you have to squeeze it minimum amount. I've seen brand-new ones leak when not torqued enough.

It's all just speculation until Darksik cleans it to see where the oil is coming from.
