Rear differences

Hi all. New member here from WA state. I look forward to lots of good stuff on here in the future as I have just purchased a 2007 Ninja 250. My question is, I used to have a 1997 250 and it looks exactly the same. However, I am noticing a lot of images online of 250's that have a toatlly different back seat and whole rear area. Is this an upgrade that people have done or did Kawasaki do that post 2007? Thanks in advance and great site!

that's the 2008+ models

kawasaki totally redesigned the farings. the engine is very similar, and the 08+ have a single exhaust now.

Hmm, if you're only noticing a big difference in the rear area, then you may be looking at the '86/'87 models.

I think he's looking at the ones with seat covers, eliminated fenders, and blinkers inside the pods. Well, either that or his first bike had something like that and he's seeing what they look like with all that crap back on it.

A cowl-line seat cover can be obtained from customseatcreations.com. The DIY fender elimination is as simple as removing the fender, mounting the plate with L-brackets, moving the blinkers into the left and right sections of the tail, and removing the rectangular segment from the tail light so that it works as a white tag light too (might want to seal it with something clear like a piece from a CD-case). You can also get an actual cowl or race tail from AirTech.

Also, the rear of the Canadian/European pregen models is fairly different as well, with the turn signals faired into the tail plastics.

That's actually a different 250: ZZR250 or EX250H. They had EX250F ("pregen") at the same time too. It was never sold in the USA so you can't register them here.
