UAS karting

anyone familiar with Ultimate All Stars ? it's a karting organization/class that race karts with motorcycle engines. did a little open class racing at a local track running an xr100r , sad to say 100 cc's is far too small , even though my kart was capable of 65 mph (with off road gearing) still way too small and under horsepowered . love to hear from others who may know more about it than myself.

I remember karts running Yamaha 250 engines at Daytona. They have even run double 250s. Seriously fast karts.

I raced karts with Yamaha 100cc engines, which was the standard for many years. Not a lot of power, but you don't slow much for corners. Top speed on a small sprint track was around 60. Max speed on a huge track was around 90.

The same engine in a chassis designed for high speed ("enduro") would add another 15 mph or more.

Briggs engines also had a huge following in sprint racing at that time.

"Shifter" karts were the fastest. 125cc water-cooled 6-speed 2-stroke dirt bike engines were really fast on the bigger tracks, but were too much work on a small track, so the Yamahas or Euro engines with centrifugal clutches were usually faster. The fastest shifter karts were 250cc water-cooled 2-stroke twins, usually Rotax engines. Top speeds were around 150+ I believe. They ran only larger road courses.

You probably won't find a place where you can complete with just any set-up. Where I raced there were no "run what ya brung" classes, and a XR100 wouldn't have worked well.

If you want to race competitively you will need to go to some races and see what is winning, then look for a similar used set-up for sale.
