49-state tank on a 50-state "CA" bike?

OK, I got @Jiggyfly's unfinished race bike and am attempting to make it ride-able and fix it up cosmetically at the same time. One of the cosmetic things I did was get another gas tank from @NinjaGirlATL because the one that was on there is dented. Before I ever did that, I looked at the parts diagrams on Kawasaki's website and found the tank diagrams for both the CA and 49-state bikes looked exactly the same with one hose coming from the back and one from the petcock. When I actually moved the tank from one bike to the other, I found that the dented on one originally on the bike had three hoses out if the back and the replacement tank had one. A quick look online confirms it: The one with three hoses is a CA-spec tank. I'm guessing that Jiggyfly removed all the other stuff that goes along with that because I don't see the stuff on the left hand side that ninja250.org hose routing pag tells me should be there.

http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Hose_ro...ine_fuel_tanks

That said, their guide only tells me how to route the hoses and not how to remove the system and/or install another tank. To complicate matters, the job Jiggyfly did may not have even been complete. Heck, the hose by the petcock wasn't even connected (actually, it was rotted in two). I need to A) Verify that the extra CA stuff has been removed and B) Adapt a 49-state tank to a 50-state bike with the 50-state stuff removed/disabled/bypassed.

I am not mechanically inclined but I have all the time in the world for this and would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks!

Ah - didn't realize it was a pre-gen. I think this one might be closer:

http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=92715

But it does link back to the same FAQ on the older site that you've already found.
