3 questions about what gear you all wear

First question

What do you guys typically wear in the summer heat? head to toe please.

2nd question and be honest, what kind of pants do you guys wear on regular pleasure rides and or commuting, summer and when cooler

and i guess a third question,
What do you guys think of ballistic jersey type gear? say something like evs g6 ballistic jersey?

1. ALPINESTARS's Stella T-GP Plus Air Mesh Motorcycle Jacket. Sedici something or another leather armoured gloves. Scorpion EXO 1000 helmet. I'm a noob and only just started commuting. I have been wearing jeans and mid-calf leather boots, though I'm currently waiting for my Stella ST-5 Drystar Motorcycle Pants to arrive. Next on my shopping list is a pair of boots; I'll probably order something this week. When it's really hot, I've put on hiking sock, which kinda help to keep my feet cool. Kinda.

2. Don't have them yet, but I got the pants with the intention of year-round riding (both for the commute and when I'm having a bit more fun). They have a zip-in insulating layer, plus I'll hopefully be able to layer a bit underneath that. When it's hot, I can just wear the pant w/o the liner. I've got a Freeze Out shirt for under the jacket which has been great for riding around in early morning 55 - 65 deg. weather.

3.

1: shoei rf1100, dainese "race" leather jacket, kobe "pro" gloves, jeans, a* smx5 boots, backpack with integrated back protection

2: jeans most of the time. if i'm going on a ride simply to ride, i wear my race gear- a full leather one-piece, smx-plus boots, the kobe gloves, a* back protector

3: if its not leather, its not going to be protecting my skin.

1. shoei rf1100, dianese leather jacket w/ added back protector, icon full gauntlet gloves, jeans, sidi cobra boots

2. always jeans.. I had a pair of Icon overpants but I did not like how thick they felt.
If I plan on riding hard in twisties I'll wear my knee armor under jeans.

3. Once I heard some of them man made materials melted and things like that I wouldn't trust it as a jacket/pants.. leather is what you need.

1. Perforated leather all year round w/ liners in the winter, full boots, shoei rf1000 or schuberth c3

2. Jeans with a hole, I will most likely continue wearing this for around town ventures but I have a full one piece suit in the mail that I will use during more aggressive riding. I'm also planning on buying these pants eventually for around town stuff, I'm just super lazy about doing the measurments http://www.motoport.com/index.php?op...d=13&Itemid=29

3. idkwtf that is but it sounds silly

1. Shoei rf1100 helmet, Alpinestars stage leather jacket w/ forcefield backarmor insert, those $10 kneepads from cycle gear under jeans, Alpinestars Sp-8 gloves, and Alpinestars smx-5 boots

2. Same except change jeans + kneepads for AGV willow sport leather pants

3. More armor is great as long as you make sure you can maneuver and don't over heat. Use leather over it if possible.

1. Bell Vortex flying tiger helmet, A* Stunt Leather jacket, sedici full gauntlet gloves, bilt trackstar boots.

None of my gear is made for rain/cold though (except maybe my jacket). So, I'll have to get some weather proof boots, gloves, and pants when winter time comes around...or just drive my truck

2. Jeans, they suck when it rains though...I've been meaning to get the AVG Telluride H20 pants for year-round riding.

3. Huh?

ballistic jersey type stuff i guess is more popular with MX crowd, it is basically a mesh type jersey that holds plastic guards together, like, elbow, shoulder, chest, spine.

But i guess gear is only as good as it's weakest link, it is trying to save weight and focus on the typical impact spots.

2. same as above, but with liner in and long sleeve cotton shirt, may get some leather pants soon though for more protection, or motoport 1000d jeans

3... huh?

1. Scorpion EXO 750, Cortech Latigo jacket, A* SP-1 gloves, Dainese knee/shin guards, Dainese Dyno short boots.

2. Jeans or 5.11 style rip stop pants with knee/shin guards normally. Pleasure riding I add some armored shorts. Plan on purchasing some Cortech Latigo pants to make a 2 piece suit along with Sidi ST air boots.

3. No idea.

Hey Subxero,

I am in Georgia...

Helmet- Scorpion-exo-500-oil-neon-helmet
Hi-Viz, comfortable, the vents are noisy, but I love the feature to vent the face shield and the drop down visor is super handy. I would be hesitant to buy a helmet with out one in the future.
http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/s...il-neon-helmet

Jacket-Tour-master-intake-air-3-jacket
The jacket flows a ton of air, and as long as your moving is like wearing a t-shirt. I unfortunately learned the hard way that you can get sun burnt through the mesh!! OUCH!
http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/t...e-air-3-jacket

Pants- tour-master-venture-air-pants
I am 6'1" and about 210. I had a really hard time finding pants that fit well with the armor in the right place. Most of the knee armor was more like shin guards even in the upper most position. The tourmaster stuff is advertised as "American cut" and I found that it was significantly more comfortable. http://www.revzilla.com/product/tour...ture-air-pants

Gloves-alpinestars-s-mx-2-air-carbon-gloves
I love these gloves, you can feel the air through the top of the gloves and I feel like they would provide moderate protection for your average riding
http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/a...-carbon-gloves

Boots- Dainese Dyno Naked Shoes
Got these on sale. I love them, very comfortable, easy on and off, looks good, I can get away wearing them at work. Flows some air while you are moving. http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/d...no-naked-shoes

If I am going to do anything more than to work or to the store down the street I wear my tourmaster pants, otherwise jeans.

1)AFX-95 Helmet, Dainese 2 piece leather suit, Vega Sport 2 boots

2)Pleasure = Daines 2 piece, I don't often commute on my bike as I live 2km from work, but when I do I wear AGV Sport textile pants....can't fit business casual pants under my leathers.

3)Better suited to motoX or impersonating Batman.

1)
- Scorpion EXO-700 with balaclava or skullcap (doesn't actually increase heat and keeps the helmet liner from getting gross)

- Frank Thomas perforated leather jacket retrofitted with A* CE-rated Bionic back protector. (Frank Thomas used to be the higher-level Cycle Gear house brand before Sedici)

- Lee Parks deerskin gauntlets

- Fieldsheer textile pants if not super-hot. Firstgear mesh pants if so.

- Bilt perforated Trackstar boots

Perforated leather is amazingly comfy as long as you're moving. I want to get some perfed leather pants, because I'm not convinced the textile and REALLY not convinced that the mesh will do it for me if I crash.

If it's really, really hot/humid I'll put my regular shirt in my tank bag and wear a wicking long-sleeved undershirt, soaked in water before I put it on. On those days I'll also soak the balaclava. I also have a cooling vest that I've used on occasion.

2) Same.

3) Don't know, don't care.

Summer Gear: Shoei RF1000 or Gmax GM68s - full leather race boots - alpinestars leather gloves - jeans

Winter: same helmets - Alpinestars leather jacket - full leather race boots - alpinestars sp-2 gloves - jeans

I usually just wear jeans when i commute - if im going riding for fun and i know i'll be out for awhile, i add my alpinestars knee/shin guards under my jeans.. if i go canyon, i always wear my one pice. Went once with a friend and because i was lazy to suit up, i was scared to lean since im used to knee dragging where we were riding. Not gonna lie, I was pretty scurrred

2. Regular Jeans with Knee/shin guard and Knox Shorts under, also have a pair of FirstGear overpants with knee and hip protection for cooler weather.

Even when it was 100 degrees out I wore my leather jacket and the rest of my gear.

It's interesting that about half of the people here wear gloves, more have listed jackets than gloves, and of those that have listed gloves, several are just "leather gloves"

The very first thing you throw to the ground will be your hands, and as soon as they touch they will slide for the full length till you stop, gloves for me are on par with helmets in terms of safety.

My riding gear I always wear, in list of importance.

Caberg Duke helmet with bluetooth
Spada Contrast WP Gloves
Australian Bikers Gear - Sturgis jacket, with CE certified shoulder, elbow and back armour
Spada Huricane WP boots with lots of built in armour
Australian Bikers Gear - Tour Master mens leather pants, with CE certified knee armour

Also take note the speed limit where I live is only 35mph and I feel it neccesary to wear all this all the time, if I lived anywhere faster, I would buy a non modular lid, thicker better branded jacket & pants and invest in a high vis jacket.

My summer gear -- all leather, but very comfy -- nearly all of these have men's versions too (except the boots, I believe); so far I wear this no matter the weather (the joy of living in the desert):
Helmet: Schuberth C3w
Jacket: RevIt Women's Ignition 2 with SASTEC back protector
Undershirt: Dainese Undershirt
Gloves: RevIt Monster Ladies
Pants: RevIt Women's Gear 2
Boots:TCX Aura

1. Shoei RF-1100, Alpinestars GP Pro jacket (with Bio Armor back protector and Bionic chest protector inserts) and Alpinestars GPX gloves, Dainese knee/shin guards, Sidi Cobra boots. I wear the same gear throughout the year since CA weather isn't that harsh. I usually drive if the weather is too hot, there's no way I'm riding without my leather jacket.

2. If I'm commuting to work, khaki pants. Jeans if I'm joyriding. Planning to get a pair of Alpinestars leather pants to make a 2-piece suit or getting a 1-piece for eventual track days or canyon carving.

Risk acceptance I guess. If I wreck and get injured on my legs it'll be my fault for skimping out on pants.

Yea. Just seems weird to me to invest so much into helmet and jacket and not at all in pants. Shrug.

1) Sweating is ok with me.
Scorpion EXO400, just bought an EXO1000
SS Twist of Fate jacket
A* SP-8 gloves
AXO Primato boots

2)Jeans I'm going to get a set of 1 piece leathers soon. I'll wear the leathers for long rides and fun rides, but jeans for commuting.

3)never heard of that.

...and you're wearing mesh gloves and a mesh jacket. Not much better except for the armor. no one's gear is perfect. We can suggest better gear for others, but at the same time, our gear is our choice. I'm not one to rant about ATGATT, I push riders wearing as much gear as they're comfortable wearing.

I know I should wear riding pants, but if I'm going to wear pants hooked into my jacket, I might as well just wear the darn 1-piece leather suit, making riding pants kinda not worth it.

It was a curiosity more than a criticism. And I'm working on gearing up After the boots it'll be the leather jacket.

It's not that I can't afford riding pants, its just that no pair of riding pants makes my ass look as good as jeans do. Also I have this stylish hole in the knee from when I tackled a guy who was stealing. He **** his pants when I tackled him. I tackled the **** out of him.

Oh, I get it. See my ass looks good no matter what I'm wearing, so I wont have that problem.

I actually wear a cheap 50$ helmet... I've spent so much money on modding my bike and buying a suit and boots I'm now too broke to buy pants and riding boots... Anyone wanna buy a poor soul some swanky soles?

It was kinda funny the other day. I was in a cycle shop looking at jackets trying on for fit. Seconds after one of the sales employee's gave a guy this talk about how he should not buy a cheap helmet because it won't protect for crap, the employee came over to me and asked if i needed help, i said no, just browsing. I was looking at leather jackets, and he said, "instead of getting a heavy jacket, you should consider layering, I like this heated shell jacket (was literally like a track jacket lightness) and just wear like a long sleeve under it." I should have told him no thanks i rather not have my flesh resemble hamburger. But again how he stressed a good helmet but then wanted me to wear a micro thin shell jacket....

Converse
Gloves with the fingers cutoff
And a sick set of Aviators

Ballistic jerseys look the bomb I wear them around the house.
Even on my you tube cooking channel!

If ballistic jerseys worked for street then motogp people would be wearing them....

What works is leathers . What almost works is textiles
What might work is ballistic jersey

Leather works > others might work......
