Welcome to Ninjette.org, Trevor !!!

Are you sure that part 43044 cannot be repaired?

If the disc is not twisted and the pistons in the caliper are functional, the front brake should work properly.

I want to get one of those disc locks, but OP's story is very common. They make those things that remind you to take the disc lock off, but you got to remember to use it every time.

I guess the alarm version of the lock would make itself known before trashing the bike?

Got this one this last winter after my caliper locked a piston up and smoked a brand new set of pads.

Note: Replica/counterfeit. Only reason to copy exactly like that is because you know some sellers will try to pass it off as an original part. With that kind of dishonesty, you have to wonder if it is really made out of the proper grade materials.

If there are horror stories for EBC rotors, I expect some from replicas too.

Low mileage take-offs are even cheaper and you know what you are getting.

I've busted the oil pan and oil filter cover with a torque wrench that my dad said was calibrated, but was in fact stored improperly. Don't worry, dude. We all make silly mistakes.

Been in a walmart lately?

How many things do you possess that are made in china?

EBC screwed themselves by letting piss poor quality controlled product to be shipped!

Sorry, but i will never buy a used rotor EVER, even if that means buying one from china.

Lots. It's not the fact that it was made in China, it's the fact that they were made dishonestly. If they are willing to pass it off as OEM or make it for someone else who will, can you really trust them when it comes to materials, workmanship, etc? You can't. I'm not saying "don't buy it, it's crap;" I'm saying that it may not be what it claims (no mention that it's a replica) so I would suggest an alternative. Similarly, they can claim "Heat Treated carbon steel disc. High Quality material," but can you verify that it is?

Replica iPhone screens often have bad pixels, no mineral treatment (potassium "Gorilla Glass"), different screen technology (TN panel from an iPod touch instead of an IPS panel from an iPhone), no basic finishing (no speaker mesh or foam bits to keep connectors from coming loose under backing brackets), and so on. I recently got a replacement iPhone screen with the frame installed completely backwards! I got three iPad 2 digitizers with the camera bracket and adhesive installed backwards AND way off (adhesive was not nearly close to the Home button bracket). You simply cannot trust a product that was only made to look like someone else's.

The thing is, customers actually demand cheap replica iPhone parts from China. While there is demand for cheap alternatives to OEM brake rotors, NO ONE is demanding that they look identical because there is no reason for it that. Making rotors that look identical seems designed to deliberately take advantage of the fact that the OEM prices are high. They did this so that they or their customers could pass them off as genuine OEM parts for some of that higher price.

Also, why not "EVER?" Why such a hard-line against used parts? I wouldn't even say that about replica parts despite speaking out against them (purely to offer what I believe is a superior alternative). I buy replicas all the time when there isn't a better choice for the price. In this case: There is. I've even seen used rotors with under 1,000 miles for LESS from bikes that were parted out for reasons that would not damage the rotor. I know you want to defend your purchase, but there's no reason to take some friendly advice and throw it back in my face. I'm just trying to help.

Torque wrenches go out of calibration fast when you store them loaded. I.e. with any value other than the lowest setting. Also, never try to "zero" the wrench.

The wrench had gone out of calibration, so I over-torqued the bolts. Since the bolts are made of a stronger material than the cover and pan, they cracked outward from the source of tension. Imagine a screw getting drilled into a piece of wood. So yeah. Bye bye oil.
