Celtic Racing and Eraldo Ferracci team up for 2011 AMA Pro roadracing season

Celtic Racing and Eraldo Ferracci have teamed up to campaign the Ducati 848 EVO in the AMA Pro Daytona SportBike class for 2011The 2011 AMA Pro Road Race season is shaping up to be the least subscribed in years. Motorcycle sales, and, specifically, sport bike sales, continue to be depressed. Manufacturers, dealers, and aftermarket companies simply don’t have the resources to support racing the way they have in the past. American Suzuki has turned over all of its racing operation to longtime partner Yoshimura R&D, while in 2010 Yamaha US farmed out its road racing operation to Graves Motorsports. Kawasaki may or may not be back in the game in 2011. If so, it will be with very limited involvement. And Honda continues to sit on the sidelines.

Of the top ten finishers in the 2010 AMA Daytona SportBike championship, less than half have rides in 2011. Martin Cardenas is back with M4 Suzuki, though with question marks. The team lost its Monster Energy sponsorship to Yamaha and Cardenas may or may not move up to the Superbike class. Class runner-up Danny Eslick will return on the Richie Morris Racing Geico Powersports Suzuki and Josh Herrin is staying with the Graves Yamaha team. Of the rest of the top ten, only Cory West is certain to return with his 2010 team, Vesrah Racing Suzuki. Others will surely catch on. And other teams will join the class.
