Headlight Questions??

I was wondering if my 2010 is limited to only 2 prong headlights, or if there was a way to convert 3 prong backed headlights to fit my bike. I have found alot of headlights with 2 prongs but not the exact ones I want, those of which all have 3 prongs..

See if a three prong bulb from a car headlight will fit then you just have to figure out the wiring. The pre-Gen has a three prong bulb, will it fit?

If you changing the headlights, just rewire for the H-4.

If your trying to put an H-4 in place of the H-7 in the stock light, the bulb plates are different.

Pin out for the H-4

Dunno if this is any help but...

The stock headlight sockets on the bike are H4 type, a three-prong design. However they only wired two of those three prongs. The factory then has an adapter that mates to the back of the H7 bulb that we use, to convert its prongs to into the same spacing as the two prongs used from the H4 socket.
Here's a link to a post I put up in another thread with pics of the male mating sockets for the H4 and H7, to work with our stock wiring.

I presume you want to do this because you'd like to have both bulbs on for normal operation, and then have a switch to activate the 'highbeam' filament in both bulbs?

If so, you may already know that the reflector geometry is different between the sides. You'll wind up one pointed lower than the other and there's nothing you can do about it that doesn't involve some serious modification of the headlight reflector housing. Also I'm not sure if the mounting plate for an H4 bulb will fit in the slot for our H7

So putting any 3 prong in there is going to involve rewiring? I was hopping for a simpler fix lol. I may just find a 2 prong that I like. I was trying to stay away from HID's for the time

Why not just stick with a high-output H7 type?

Also beware that not all 2-prongs are the same. Some use wider-spaced or physically wider prongs than others. Sometimes one of them is 90-degrees rotated from the other.

Nope an H4 bulb doesn't even go into the circle of the headlight housing...ask me I know had to go to 5 different stores to find the H7 version of same bulb

The only reason I even bring this entire thread up is b/c I want to get different colored bulbs. H7's I have only found white or blue bulbs. So if someone knows how to find more colors then that on a H7 im all ears!!
