ex500 into my 02 vulcan 500

Fellers on facebook of all places said, Oh yeah! direct swap out into my 02 vulcan 500. It was! Except for the shifter location. The ex500 doesnt use linkage, just has the shifter mounted directly to the tranny. The vulcan 500 has a wide stator case and uses a bolt hole to mount the linkage. The ex500, very narrow and no mounting hole as stated above.

I think I can make a mount by welding up a bracket.

Anyone ever do the ex500 swap into a vulcan 500 ltd?

Any other surprises I need to know about before i ruin my bike week fun more than i already have?

All the wiring appears the same. Some mount to the starter a little differently but otherwise they are the same.

I also know i need 34mm carbs which is already on the list. BUT FIRST, what else am i unaware of?

coincidentally, I've got refurbed EX 34mm carbs ready to run. A link to the EX500 forum sales post, pics, info, price:

Can you post photo of Vulcan's linkage?
Perhaps there's some way to make bracket for it.

well that plan got scrapped. Turns out i need the ninja computer and wiring harness. Fudge that, it was fun, but not worth that much extra $$$ in the end. Pulled it out and put the factory motor back in. I'll drop in some 34mm carbs for a little extra grunt.
