I've actually witnessed an apparent marriage proposal "fail" that was very similar to this one.

I found out afterwards that she really did want to marry the guy. The problem was that she didn't like being asked in a sports stadium. Apparently, some women have pretty specific ideas about how she wants to be asked.

In the aftermath of the fail that I witnessed the couple did get married after he tried again with another, more romantic marriage proposal.

I know that every red-blooded, all-American guy imagines that a "jumbo-tron" marriage proposal is the best of all possible ways to do it, but there's a chance she's not to wild about the idea.

She sure looked ready to kiss him, but I think Greg maybe onto something here...

It's always a good idea to gauge what they been dreaming about since age 1month, instead of the ideas most guys think of.

That's pretty interesting. Us guys can never understand women. You'd think this is what they dream of but NNNNoooooo!

I didn't even think about that.

The jumbotron proposal seems a bit played out anyway.

Over the holidays while I was at Downtown Disney, my niece and I witnessed a marriage proposal in front of a Disney Holiday sign and floral arrangement. She said yes and others in line (we were waiting in line nearby to go up in the sight-seeing balloon they have there) that witnessed it with us all began clapping and congratulating them.

Poor guy should have turned to the announcer after getting turned down, gotten on my knees and proposed to her. LOL

Putting the announcer on the spot would have gotten the crowd to cheer for him and/or gotten the guy a kiss.

Gad dang there's a lot of "gotten" in my post.

I proposed to my fiancee on top of the Empire State Building and not a single person noticed. That was fine with me, as I would have been embarassed by the attention, and it was for us anyway. She just said afterward that she was suprised that no one even stopped or said congrats or anything. I guess that's NYC.

I agree though that a sports event is probably not a place to propose unless she is a diehard fan or you met there, or went on a first date there, and are sitting in the same seats or something like that. Tough luck for that guy. Fortunately it was a UCLA basketball game, and it looked like the stands were pretty empty.
