Interstate 29 North of Omaha Incident

http://www.ketv.com/news/24570969/detail.html

4 cyclists killed in a head-on crash on a stretch of I-29 where construction necessitated two-way traffic. Alcohol involved. It is all over the news.

3 of them not wearing helmets because Iowa doesn't require it. 3 of the 4 were Iowa residents. The fourth lives here where we require helmets. It obviously didn't matter in any event.

I still don't understand those who choose not to wear gear.

seriously, I don't understand why people take the chance. at least put a helmet on for christ's sake. there's a guy here at work who's excited to be vacationing in north carolina soon because he's riding his r6 down there and they don't have a helmet law. I truly don't get it.

Aside from the helmet issue...

Why cant people get it in their heads that you MUST not drink and drive. This is yet another example of some drunken idiot that kills people because he's STUPID.

YES, I said it. STUPID.

And as usual the only one to come out of it alive is the jackass drunk.

We need stiffer penalties for drunk driving. Im tired of seeing these multiple offenders with 5 DUI's out there killing people. Im ready to go to the polls and vote YES to any bill that immediatly takes the driving privileges of a drunk driver away permanantly on the 1st offense, and carries a "first degree murder" charge on any death caused by it. If your too stupid not to drink and drive...then you dont deserve either.

These guys would have looked a lot better in the casket if they only had been wearing helmets.

Very sad news. Wrong place at the wrong time. Sounds like even if they were in a car instead of bikes, it still would've been a horrific accident.

Living in Charlotte I hate to burst your friends bubble but we have a helmet law. Now South Carolina on the other hand does not.

ah, south carolina must be it then. he said he was going to myrtle beach, which I always think is in NC for some reason. Either way, it's ridiculous.
