Fram oil filters

I use a Fram and have never had a problem. The general feeling I get from here is that Fram is an unpopular brand. My poll question is have YOU ever had a problem with a Fram filter?

We've used them in all our cars for close to two decades now...never a problem. However, I don't use them on my bike for the simple reason that I couldn't find them around and Purolator filters were super cheap

I voted the third option, but it should be something along the lines of, there's no way in hell that I would use them... but then again, I worked at a plant that made filter paper for them for one of my ChE internships, and know all too well about the quality issues they had with the paper, so you couldn't pay me to run them....

Ive never had a problem with them, but then again I have never used them due to the negative image with that brand. They may not destroy my vehicle, but why buy them when there is so many better options with less negative rep.

I used Fram for many years in my cars and never had any problems. In fact, I keep setting personal records for longevity in my cars, I had cars last me well over 150k miles, highest was around 187k and used fram filters all the time.

Kim, when was that? In another post I boasted about their media (around 1993) when they had a lab here in RI and i worked for Allied Signal. However as my other post said I hated the company.

I've used fram filters in every car that I've owned and never had a problem. My old 94 Honda Accord lasted until 270k miles and the engine still had full compression.

I have used 4. On my bike.
No problems whatsoever.

If there were a glaring issue more people would file suit, Fram would recall. Why would a company risk paying for engine damage by keeping a faulty filter on the market?

I used a Fram for my first oil change (at 100 miles), since they were the only filters I could find locally (except for getting one from the dealer for 3-4x the price). I used it while I waited for my shipment of K&N filters to arive.

I didn't have any problems with it, but then again I only had it in for roughly 100 miles.

Same story here. I also usually end up using Fram filters in my car due to availability. Haven't had any problems yet, but I'd gladly buy something else if it was easy to get.

I used to use it in my 06 with no problems. But switched out to K&N or others when I read some negative reviews on it.

Frams are not known for their build quality when it comes to oil filters. I no longer use them in any of my vehicles that require a canister style oil filter.

The Fram canister filters typically have subpar end caps, paper elements, and anti-drain back valves when compared to the competition... and often the competition is much cheaper and higher quality as well !

I should mention that its highly unlikely that using a Fram is going to make your engine blow up, but I use premium parts of high build quality where cost permits. Fram is not high quality in my books.

For a cartridge style filter, like the ones on the 08 + 250R I doubt it would make much of a difference, since the filter element is going to end up the same no matter who makes it. I have yet to find a Fram filter that fits this bike, so I just stick to K&N because its cheap (relative to kawi dealer) and readily availible.

Oops I clicked the wrong response. I have not had a problem with them, at least not that I'm sure of. I blew the engine in my Subaru at a track day right after I changed the oil using a Fram filter. I will be taking the engine apart soon (finally, I need space in my garage), but I don't think it is related. The car had 150K+ at the time and has been raced since new (cage installed while still under lease

All right as of this post Kazam couldnt find one Camaro clicked the wrong one, and Tinng didnt post his problem. Right?,

I looked at the link that was provided on another post about Fram filters. They cut apart a bunch of filters and showed the inside. The Fram filter that was used had a cardboard top on the inside of the filter. I question weather that was a Fram, for 2 reasons. 1) The filter was black 2) You cant see any part of the wording on the filter. I have used Frams forever, in all my assorted machinery. I dont ever recall getting a black one in a canister style. They have all been orange. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this one.

you can get black ones, or even chrome ones for motorcycles (harleys in particular)

Hmm never had a problem I normally just go with MObil 1 Stuff or OEM for the wifes car and only OEM BMW filters for my car!

for the ninja I just got a WIX filter, I've had good experience with those in my older BMW's and they always come with o-rings ! (all my BMW filters have been cartridge style like the ninja one)

Fram and Penzoil is all my chevy motor's get. From the 70's till now, never had a problem. Open up the motors, and they look clean inside

Now, the fram for the dodge truck(cant remeber the p/n). But if your at wal-mart. Just look up a 1500 dodge(07). Compare the Fram to the factory dodge 090 they sell. The holes are allot larger on the dodge filter..... So the truck get factory filter because of that.

The fram filter comes with the o-rings and the kawa filter don't

I'm running the kawa now but my last was a fram and it damn near fell apart when I took it out. Wix filters are supposed to be top notch and come with o-rings so I'm going to try them next time.

I was informed in a Tech Bulletin that the use of a Fram Filter in my Yanmar Diesel Inboard on my sailboat would void my warranty. I, personally like WIX Filters--no problems. I stay away from Fram.

Compare the Fram to the factory dodge 090 they sell. The holes are allot larger on the dodge filter..... So the truck get factory filter because of that.
