Naked Sportbikes/Streetfighters

I don't know what it is, but imo there's something badass about this style of bike. i think the new z1000 is pretty sweet, although some find the "angular" styling a bit much. here's a new offering from yamaha, 2011 FZ8 (800cc as opposed to 1000cc).

Definitely think the FZ1 is hot. That FZ8 might be Euro only?? Best one I ever saw had the fairing removed and a white tank with a red strip and a cf exhaust. Looked like some trick bike from Italy. Really considered the FZ1 before my CBR. Would have cost less and been cheaper to insure and more versatile, but I was afraid I would just be twisting that throttle and holding on for life.

That's the older-gen Z1000, the 2010 model looks even better.

Trater...trater I say....! What are you guys doing over on the Yamaha website???

Wait, I own 4 Honda's. Nevermind...

Naked is cool though. I'm sure both bikes are great bikes.

Cool when I first saw it in a mag they said Euro only. Guess I can't believe everything I read. Nice bike to replace the old FZ6 (which the FZ6R didn't do). And 26 THOUSAND miles between valve checks.

Yeah Jason look at all those hondas in your proflie.

Rumor has it that the FZ8 has the MotoGP engine. Since MotoGP is going back to 1000cc Yamaha had tons of left over engines and with all that development they didn't want it all to go to waste. They made the FZ8 a street fighter because with that engine in a Sport Bike insurance would have been through the roof.

Hey no fair.... I had my Honda's first. You sold the Ninja for the Honda.

It's all about the ride not the machine anyway.

Now will Yamaha FZ fans say why buy the FZ8, its a sleeved down FZ1 with 4 valve heads? Kind of like the Ninja 650/400 thing.

2 friends have 919. Great bike that just didn't catch on in the US. I think its the modern day CB750 - the great UJM. Suspension is a bit cheap but can be remedied.

Haha ya that's easily the pretties of the 3. But I'm at least another season away from considering this upgrade so it's all pillow talk for now.

The thing I like about the 919 is that it's an unassuming bike. It looks like a POS but it has a 900rr motor crammed in there LOL. That F800R has access to the huge range of BMW luggage accessories and is pretty damn comfortable. I sat on one during a motorcycle show here...very nice...but it's a BMW so who knows what the maintenance costs hahaha.

If I was going to buy that type of bike it'd have to be the Speed Triple. Although the 919 would be pretty tempting if they brought it back.

If you bought the 919 then you would have to take the wheelie survey cuz they like to wheeeeeleeeeee. Actually the 2007 leftovers were dirt cheap in 2009. Then again a dirt bike is far from dirt cheap these days.

Haha ya..I think most modern street fighters/nakeds are wheelie machines. Damn rowdy, I tell ya.

Edit: Oh and for the curious...the 919's official successor is the CB1000r:

I have no idea if that thing is gonna get sold on this side of the planet, though.

I kinda like it. Sure it's funny looking....but it's like that weird looking girl with the hot body at the office. If she showed up naked at my house, I wouldn't exactly kick her out of bed! Just don't tell anybody.

And that duc streetfighter is sweet but pricey as hell haha. If I'm paying that much I might as well get an 1198 and get all of the unwanted female attention that I can handle. Let's be honest here...naked bikes will only attract other guys.

Yeah wicked pricey. To go one step further naked bikes attract guys, naked girls attract most guys, and naked guys attract other group of guys. I am not one of those other guys. Not that there's anything wrong with it, lol.

I got to see one of these at Road America. It looked really nice. My current naked is a 1988 Honda Hawk 650GT that I plan to modify a bit.

some magazine complained about the Duc's pipes location also. I think the headers look cool on the FZ.
