Hi TJ,

Just out of curiosity, why are you making the change? Are you going to a full pipe?

Regards,
Owen

Went riding tonight. Dressed warm (layers+neck warmer) but still freezing. And visor kept fogging up.

Tires had a lot less grip, even on dry pavement. Be careful in curves especially, don't drive too aggressive.

Time to store it soon...

Yeah... my wife and I bought a new car and sold our old one, but the new one hasn't arrived yet, so all I've had for transportation is the motorcycle for the past week (and now it looks like next week too).

Having to commute to work in this weather definitely takes the fun out of riding!

You're spot on with the grip thing too Alex... there's a lot less of it when it's this cold! I felt my front tire give for the first time ever, and it wasn't even a hard turn. I didn't go down, but it was definitely a little sketchy.

It's also getting hard to start the bike in the mornings when it's below 0. It took me three starts to get the bike to stay on the other day, and that was with the choke fully on.

I am still riding though, so if we get a nice day this weekend, and anyone is up for a ride, let me know!

Cheers,
Owen

Hey guys, sorry for the hiatatus. Got really busy for me in October and I kinda...just forgot about motorcycling (didn't take the bike out for 3 weeks!). I just got my bike back from hybrid racing for it's 12,000km tune-up. The guy knows his stuff, but his store is very difficult to find.

Took it for a good spin last night (120km) and what a beautiful night. I was thinking about putting the bike away this Saturday afternoon, but if it's not too cold, I might be up for a little spin (nothing too long though).

Nooooo, it's 40 Robinson road which is right downtown. Robertson is over in Kanata. :/

Here's a map of where he's at: http://g.co/maps/ydzd9 It's listed on the map as "Gary's custom cycle". Once you get on Robinson road, you'll ride parallel to the 417 for a bit then come to a 4-way stop. Go straight and on your right hand side (just before the 90 degree right turn), you'll see a square white building that looks really out of place. Immediately after that is a house with a big looking shed on it (hidden by pine trees) That's where he's at. There is a driveway on either side, so if you miss the first driveway (easy to do), you can catch the second one on the other side.

Wow thanks for telling me, I would have wasted a lot of time looking for it! Nice guy, oil change done.

Motorcycle is stored for the winter. Although still have a few things to do to winterize. I miss it already lol.

I spent about 1/2 hour driving around looking for his place. When I looked at google maps, I was looking at the road map and kept looking for a 4 way stop, not realizing you went under the bridge.

Yep, nice guy. He comes very highly recommended by numerous people and he has quite a presence with the racers over at Calabogie.

I still haven't put my bike away, thinking I might take it out tomorrow (Wednesday). High of 17? Yeah...that's just crying for a bit of a ride!

TJ,

I'd say! I dropped mine off at Ottawa Goodtime Centre on Saturday for their winter storage program. $20 in $20 out and $45 per month. Not cheap, but it's nice to not have to worry about it. They drain the carbs and add fuel stabilizer, so hopefully it should be fresh as a daisy next summer.

I also did my first ever oil change with some fancy synthetic stuff, and although it was a bit messy, it was actually pretty easy overall.

Enjoy the winter guys!

Cheers,
Owen

2012 ninja 250 Ontario meet

Anyone up for a 250 meet next year! Like a big campout / ride? I'm in if anyone's game say so and we will figure it out over the short winter I hope

Let's throw ideas around I was thinking everyone could meet up Friday night and have a bonfire, followed by a few group rides on Saturday, different paces and what not, followed by another bonfire and then we would all head home on Sunday , of course anyone could come late or leave early too! I'm excited should be good times. Please post if you like the idea and are thinking of. Coming and your location so I can find something in the middle of everyone!

Short winter? I bought a ski membership!

But I'd probably be up for that. Post this in the Ottawa thread as well, I know people are still viewing that.

This Saturday it's looking like it'll be plus 10 and sunny. Think I'll take it out for one final spin in the afternoon.

Ontario riders???

come out come out were ever you are!!! i know its practically end of season here in ontario but im looking for the ontario riders in the london, woodstock, guelph area for the upcomeing seasion next year, so that we can start to figure out any group rides.
ive been out of rideing for a few seasons and dont really know anyone with bikes anymore other than my brother in-law that is looking to get one for next season to go and ride with, and just using the bike to go to and from work and occasional ride for fun just seems like a shame/waste for the machine and would like to be able to cordinate some group rides and to be able to meet other riders in the area.

post up ideas or pm me so we can get ready for next season

Hey all,

Just finished speaking to Alex about the merging of these threads. Unfortunately the merge can't be undone, so us Ottawa folks will just start a new thread (spring time maybe? Or maybe we'll get together in the winter some time...)

Ahh, good to see the Ontarios here.

I'm still riding but not when it's wet and floating around the freeze/thaw/black ice numbers.

Should be dry in a couple days and only -2c. Night riding continues...for now.

I'm up for a big meet-up camp next spring too but I'll be the one bringing up the back so leave me a map.

@Firehorse. It's not thaaaaat far. Well, maybe for a beer it is. It'd definetly be cool to do a bike trip down to Kingston in the summer. Some absolutely beautiful roads going down there.

Not too far for me but way too far for a freezing rain kinda night.
I have to show my bike to friends in Plantagenet in the spring, I'll definitely be rounding up some fellow ninjettes from Ottawa to say hi to.
There's a road leading from Plantagenet to Ottawa, (beside the old 417 I think) and it's all twisty and fun looking. I haven't done real highway riding yet, but maybe I'll try it in the spring, would rather take twice the time on twisties and have twice the fun.

There's an Ontario riding site where members can post their favourite roads, some evn have little jumps...

I'll see if I can find it and be right back

Hi Guys,

This is specifically for the Ottawa folks, but I don't think we've restarted or thread yet, so I'll toss it up here.

Does anyone know about the Ottawa International Motorcycle show?

http://ottawainternationalmotorcycleshow.ca/

Apparently it's this coming weekend, and I was wondering if anyone here wants to organize a group outing to go see the sights? Perhaps a few hours at the show followed by a beer or something?

Let me know if anyone is interested!

In other news, I bought a CBR600RR a few weeks back, so Ottawa's nicest ninjette might be up for sale soon

Cheers,
Owen

I'll be there but won't have beer time, will be with The Bigger Half. I'd say look for the blond in black leather with the huge bald guy but um, that would narrow it down to 400 people...LOL!
We have to work out if we can go Sat or Sunday. I'll post up here when we decide what is doable.

Maybe I'll stick an Imperial Blue streak in my hair if anyone is there and wants to introduce themselves.
