Good News!

For anyone that remembers me... about 3 weeks ago I posted that my insurance would not cover a 250 ninja of any year strictly because it carried the ninja name.

Well after a few weeks of giving up hope on a ninja and looking for a cruiser, my dad told me that I could get my own insurance coverage on just a bike... Well after about 15 minutes on the internet I got a quote from Progressive and am now BACK in the market for a Ninja!

I will be going this Sunday hopefully (weather permitting) to look at my friends 2007 with about 10k miles.

So my chances of joining the Ninjette family are now better than ever!

My insurance has my bike listed as a Kawasaki EX250. They told me the rates go up based on the engine size not the style of bike.

I got insurance quoted through progressive, full coverage for just me on an 07 ex250-F is $186 a year.

Which is much much much cheaper than my families insurance quoted me ($492 per 6 months on an 03 Honda Shadow)...

Question on pricing...

My friend has a 2007 with 10k miles, new front and rear tires, runs fine just needs some Techron or Seafoam run through it. He is asking 1750, I talked him down to $1550. That a decent price?

It's the best price around here I could find and I know the owner and it's history.

I wouldn't trust them on that.

I was quoted about $600/yr full coverage on a 650r but pay closer to $1,200/yr on my zx6r (636cc).

If you can find an insurance company that charges less for zx6r coverage than a 650r.... let me know

That is a great price for the bike around here. I paid 1300 for my 2000, as for insurance I paid 133 a year for full coverage but am also 23

Take that deal! I am in the market for bikes and I found an 07 for $1900. A 2002 is also up for $1500 which I might snag because the bike is in great shape. Also if I may ask, how old are you. I am in a sticky situation with my parents even though I saved up all my money for a bike.

I'm 20. My mom isn't happy I'm getting one, but she knows I'll be careful. She isn't worried about me she is worried about others who aren't paying attention.

Bought all my gear before I even finished the MSF course. I was excited I guess lol.

Yeah I should have researched sooner. But oh well at least I didn't spend the extra money for a cruiser before figuring it out.

Went and checked my friends bike out today... it was alright an 07 with about 11k miles. Needs carbs rebuilt or heavily cleaned. And I didn't get to ride it because of a dead battery... he won't go lower than 1550 on it due to the new tires he put on it.

The search is still on.

Hoping to go look at an 08 this week...

Good job on walking away. That carb may be a carb clean or burnt it valves. Either way don't pay to fix his headaches.

Why not? Could be burnt piston crushed/burnt ringlands etc. A lean condition could have done lots if bad things. Either way its the current owne's problem. If you are buying, always assume the worse. The deal of a lifetime comes once a week.

Cool man, you must be pumped. I was too once I finally had the money and could start seriously looking for a bike. That was 6 months ago and I still LOVE my ninja.

I don't have any insurance on my ninja 250 because I'm stupid and in florida it's not necessary if you own the bike outright. I will be getting it as soon as the my money permits.

So while doing some more searching around I found this bike nearby: http://joplin.craigslist.org/mcy/3762511824.html

texted them, they still have it, and it has a clean title. Any thoughts on this one? I'm trying to get some more info on it from the sellers.
