You may need to grind down some welds on the inside there. When you buy them together they are supposed to match them so they fit nicely.

I bought them seperate and they fit together snug. Lucky I guess.

DanMoto Baffle Instructions

DanMoto Baffle Instructions. Even with the baffle, it's still pretty loud.

Did I mention it was loud?

How does it compare the MGP growler? I like the longer DM's longer can and baffle. Searched high and low and most say still loud with baffle, but any louder than MGP without one. How about fitting the DM baffle onto the MGP?

Also, anyone with a coupon code?

Thanks!

I just got mine today, looks awesome.
a couple questions tho,

Do we have to saw anything off from the stock pipe?

Also the clamp that came with the exhaust doesn't seems to clamp tight on the pipe, how much torque should be used?

Any more install pointers would be great, first bike and first mod for me.

Thanks so much!

no need to saw off anything...stock pipe slides right off....the clamp that comes with it does tighten it..as for torque, i say hand-tight and a qtr turn...sa long as its snug..as for pointers, set everything in place then tighten it..use the smaller spring set...i found the larger one was too long...after all is said and done you should atleast shim the needles...i havent done it yet, but i will be doing that and pulling the snorkel out too....as for the kleen system removal, im gonna leave it...the popping dont bother me at all

Installed the baffle today, sounds a tiny bit quieter.
but the added back pressure is the best part, rev go up faster than just the straight pipe imo

Danmoto questions

I want to get the danmoto Carbon GP for the 09 250r. My question is, do i have to rejet, shim, change air filter or anything?

Or do i just take off the stock Exhaust and slip on the danmoto carbon GP and nothing to worry about.

Extreme Noob Heads up.

/moved to new-gen tech.

If you add a free-flowing slip-on without any jetting or shimming mods, the performance of the bike is more likely to take a step backwards. Even jetted properly, a slip-on barely retains the performance of the stock exhaust.

I shimmed with two washers. Started off with none felt hesitant added one still a bit of hesitation right on tip in, then ended up adding two and im happy with it now. Plus I barely have to use the choke now, where before I had to use it full in order to keep it running. Now I use it at about half to keep it at 2000 rpm.

Thinking of getting the gp extreme, however i had to cut a small section off the original header pipe so was wondering has anybody fitted one with cut pipe and was it ok? Ive cut the header pipe where the flange was for the original end can

I rang my dealer today about rejetting, they reckon about $450aud+, Im going to ask the local mechanic down the road, he has a young guy there who races bikes, might be able to work out a deal with him. I tried to shim my carbs the other day and getting those back screws is enough to send me to a mental home, To take the carbs out, seems you have to pull half the bike apart, I did just buy an offset screwdriver the other day, Hope I can get it then, but it may be too late the screws may be stripped, so a full day of pulling the bike apart may be coming soon, and I will be replacing those screws with hex heads.

You got this man. Its really not difficult. Like everyone said-- take your time, read all the FAQ's and How-To's, and come here if you get confused. Everyone's gotta start somewhere. I don't mean to scare you but bikes require a good bit of maintenance to remain in top running form...gonna be a real wallet strain to constantly have to refer to a mechanic when you have an issue. Just do work!

Rejet is a must

I installed the dan moto slip on and noticed a drop off in power and throttle response around the 6000 range but after a rejet and needle adjustment the problem was solved. followed the dynojet kit instructions exactly and the difference in performance was very noticable. Also there is a big difference in the taper of the needles when going from stock to after market.

Well I finally shimmed mine it is running real nice now, Nothing about it was easy though, even with an offset screwdriver I still manage to naf up a screw, I just cut a deep slot in it with my dremel and got it out that way and replaced it in an easier to get to location, I did go to the local auto store to get some hex heads but they said I had to go to a specialist outlet, Sod it. some other day. Its is back together for now and runs nicer than it did. I did have issues with the baffle however, It has too small diameter and doesnt rest between the can and the adapter, so it falls in and has an inch or more of play, I noticed straight away it wasn't that quiet and it rattled a lot. so I took it out, gave it a hard wack with a big hammer and oval shaped it a bit, It rests really well now, and sounds alot better.I think they just needed to flare the end a little more about 2-3mm.

Just installed My DanMoto Carbon Exhaust!

Hey guys, whats up?

Finally finished installing this thing, made me break two tools and about 7 cuts all over my hand... BUT, it was worth it

I love it, for 125 buck its worth it.

Only 2 things...
1.) I think performance reduced on mine, or im just out growing the power?
2.) It ONLY backfires when i hit red line, Scared the **** outa me the first time...

I understand shimming it will make the mixture more rich, but that backfire must be horrible for my engine.

Any Tips or Advice on DanMoto Users?

Definitely shim bro...it did wonders on mine. You'll be running a little on the lean side now with the slip-on. As to it backfiring...hmm...mine hasn't backfired at all and I've had it for about 500 miles now. Could you perhaps be confusing backfiring with the crackling/popping sounds inherent with slip-ons? It's normal to get popping sounds during hard engine braking/deceleration...look into that. If that's the case, which I expect it is, then you can look into doing the Kleen air delete (search for it on the forum) to remove the sounds.
Danmoto all da wayy!
P.S. did you get the baffle as well?...if not, you should

The loss of power is perhaps your mixture being off. By adding on a different exhaust you're letting more air flow through, which can screw up acceleration a little bit. I removed my snorkel, it let way too much air in, and I had crappy acceleration. I bring that up only as an example, since more air was flowing through my bike. Same principle with the exhaust though. Shim your needles. But be careful and use the right size screw driver. I totally messed stripped my screws in my carbs because I used the wrong size.

As for the back fire, if its popping, its normal. My bike pops a lot. (Two bros exhaust, btw). Im not sure how bad it is for the engine, although I don't think its horrible. You can do that mod that Alex is talking about. I think there's also something else with drills and what not (if thats not the mod above that Im talking bout, but it could be, since I don't know what the actual name of the mod is). :-)

Enough rambling and only confusing you more, my job is done here. Lol. Sorry.
Btw I love your avatar lol. I had to look close and for a while to understand why you had a pic of a class room lol.
