Thumbs up ContourHD Camera Full 1080p for $179 shipped

I spent too much money this month already, but this deal was way too good to pass up. Normal average price I see is $250 at most online retailers.

Amazon's gold box deal of the day.

DONE!

My wallet hates you....but I love you. I have been eyeballing this for a while. It was a toss-up between this and the GoPro HD. However, from an aesthetics standpoint this wins.

LOL. I know what you mean. This wouldn't look out of place compared to the gopro. I didn't really like the thought of having a point and shoot looking camera stuck to my helmet. I told myself that if this was only $200, I wouldn't get it, but to get it new for $180 is awesome.

It just uses double stick tape for flat mounting. There are handle bar mounts for it as well. I don't really see the need for a DIY. If I find something complicated, I'll let you guys know. It should arrive on Friday since I have amazon prime .

Just read the reviews on the helmet mount and they're not too favorable. I think I'm going to get the windshield mount. An amazon reviewer said he stuck it to his fairing on his street bike and did a lot of thrashing with it and it held.

The replay has "water-resistant" listed under it's specs and doesn't offer a waterproof case. Plus the xd1080 is still in pre-order.

That goPro mounted to the chin bar looks pretty good tho.

Odds are you didn't have the full video string. When they have dashes in them, sometimes copying/pasting doesn't get the whole string and you need to make sure the whole video ID was truly pulled in between the youtube tags.

I just used it this morning on my commute to test out the window suction. I attached it to the front cowl of the bike and it held up great. I'll need to download the video when I get home. I imagine it will be rather shaky since there's a lot of vibration.

I ended up buying the full contourGPS version. the GPS is off by a good 50 feet at times but you get the idea. Helmet profile mount keeps it close to the helmet and you dont get the vibrations you would from a bike-mount.

Great little camera so far. My boss has the GoPro and he was both impressed by the form factor and video/audio quality. I may add a little foam over the mic to reduce wind noise without turning the mic gain all the way down tho.

I use a spot type band aid over the mic on my GP to attenuate the wind noise. If one is not enough, just add another on top of it until you get the desired amount noise reduction. cheap, easy and effective.
