Talking Ride... Ride... Ride

Wednesday -- Installed a Givi E55 Tech (Maxi3)
Thursday -- Filled the Givi with gear and headed out for a long ride with Crisco from Biscoe - NC-90 200+ Miles
Friday -- More Riding 250+ Miles - NC 80 "the Devil's Whip"
http://www.thedevilnc80.com/
Blue Ridge Parkway, NC-181, More BRP, NC-18
Saturday -- More Riding 240+ Miles - US-58, 93, NC-18, BRP, and a couple of hellacious twisties coming down out of VA into NC and a rather boring stretch on I-85 coming back to Charlotte....

I wired in new front turn signals and swapped out to an electronic flasher. I highly recommend everyone who hasn't done so do it. Why they should is because whenever a bulb goes out, the other bulb will still continue to blink. I am using Tridon EL-12 flasher.

I also installed my left side X-race rearset finally. I'll write a review/install sometime later.
We only took the seat and muffler brackets off yesterday. I don't know what all he took off today

Nope, no link. They're just small LED strips.

They are rear set adjuster brackets. They allow you to adjust the position of he rear foot pegs allowing for a more sporty riding position. These along with clip on handle bars give you a more "supersports" feeling.

Thanks, that what I was thinking but wasn't sure. What about the shifter lever... you have to move your foot back to the front rider position???

Well, since I was technically working on it late last night, I think midnight rolled around so it would be today.

Stripped off all plastic, seats, headlights, and instrument cluster to expose the frame and forks. Need to have it checked out after the crash. I have a nekkid bike! LOL

I believe the levers move with the foot pegs, and they have extension rods for the linkages...

By using the 1" Roaring Toyz Risers (above pic), the forks slide up into the risers then seat back into the original bars

Changed oil, oil filter, and I replaced the old heat tape on the lower fairing. Did some other random work like bending the lower fairing screen to stay in place.

Got three mods wrapped up today.

1) Zip tie mod - not too impressed with it, but I guess I didn't really get a chance to test it out.
2) switched to sv clip ons - quiet a dIferent position as far as he handlebars is concerned. Definite rubbing on both sides on he fairing. Will install spacers to increase triple tree height.
3) new grips and barends.
4) shorty levers - look good, but not as short as I had expected.
5) A&L rearset adjusters - set them at the highest setting. Impressed by the quality of fit and finish. Need more time on the seat to give a better review.

Pics

On the flip side, my bike battery pretty much went kaput and isn't getting charged. Tried push starting it, but it keeps going off and not restarting. Gotta get that seen to tomorrow.

Almost lost rear seat #2 today. hit a big bump in the road and seat flew off along with lunch box attached to it. Luckily I wasn't on the highway and the cars behind me were generous enough to not run it over.

Engine swap

Swapped in a 300 mile (basically brand new) 2003 engine for my spun bearing 2004 engine. Pretty easy swap, wiggled the new engine in all by myself. Should be running tonight or tomorrow. Checked the valves and the exhaust were a little tight but still in spec.
