Sat on an 09' 250R today..

and probably would have gone home with it despite the fact that the sales people were completely MIA the 45 mins I was in there.. They didn't have the color that I wanted anyways, all they had was red and blue. I really want black

That is what I keep hearing, however I just don't dig the 09' Green's as much as I do the 08's..

I wanted a black too, but not bad enough that I would compromise my visibility for it. The rest of the colors in the line up are really eye popping and attention grabbing. I have not had any problem with cagers not seeing me yet.

My fiance likes the blue, but I just don't like it. Black most definitely presents a visibility issue and has gone through my mind regarding the choice of black..

Hehehe.

Anyway, if you get a black one, you could still get a colorful helmet and jacket.

haha I like that shirt! I was following a guy through traffic yesterday who was on a yellow bike with yellow gear and had no visual issues at all. The bike was ugly though

I wear a red helmet and a red a* leather jacket when I ride my black '09 ninja, and I've never had any problems with people not seeing me. Just make sure your jacket has bright colors and reflective piping.

You will... so don't expect all people to see you all the time, no matter what color your bike or gear. Ride as if you are invisible to all vehicles around you and expect the unexpected.

welcome to Ninjette.

have fun, ride safe

I really wish I had been looking for this bike last year, or I could find a dealer with a still new 08' Green 250R. That is the bike I want.

i love my black bike and the best part is that you can put on bikeskins like this one
http://www.bikeskinz.com/Products/pr...skullgreen.htm
or get the reflective flames kit put on for high visibility from tapeworks.com

That's exactly what they said in the MSF class and it's great advice to ride by. What I meant is that he shouldn't pass on the color he really wants just because of visibility. You should be "invisible" no matter what color your bike is.

Hope you get the bike.

That is pretty cool stuff! My personal preference on the 09' models is definitely Black and will more than likely be the bike I purchase. Very good advice about riding like you are invisible

Don't worry Travis - the right bike at the right time will come along sooner or later. Of course if it has some green that will be better but each to his own.

The stealership should still be able to get you a black one. The one near me got a black one to me the same day. Too bad no one was around to help, try going somewhere else.

I am still in the hunt for one, I am in no particular rush to pick one up as we speak. I am going to shop around, and will not be returning to that dealership. To think that you can hang around/sit on a bike for 30-45 mins and get ZERO help amazes the heck out of me. Maybe I didn't get any help because I wasn't sitting on one of their MANY R1's/Busas?

First bike?

If so, don't worry about color. Once that sucker hits the pavement (which will happen), then you can respray it the color you want.

Mine is black. When the sun is on it for a few hours while you are in the mall (during the heat of the day), and you come out to throw a leg over it, you'll wish it were white.

Like these guys have said, don't let availability deter you from what you really want and always ride like no one can see you no matter how "visible" your colors are.

BTW, where are you in TX?

I am in Marble Falls, there are a LOT of good roads around here to learn/ride on. I completely understand the invisible thing, there are more blind spots in cars than people realize. Bikes are easily lost from vision.

it goes beyond that. even when they see you... they don't see you. be careful... don't assume just because they made eye contact with you that they will acknowledge your existance.

I know what you mean, we had a lady look at me and my fiance in our Jeep Liberty and STILL turn out in front of us on saturday. The truth is, the road is dangerous to cars and bikes. It is just more dangerous for bikers because of the lack of protection. I am a pretty defensive driver, and will be even more defensive when I get my bike. I have totaled 2 cars since I turned 16 (26 now) and both times it was unavoidable due to the other person. Those wrecks have made my general perception of traffic around me quite a bit better though, however sometimes you just can't avoid an accident.

He was behind a big black SUV, which made visibility a tad bit easier

You should of tried starting up one of their bikes. That would of worked. Since no keys...go over to a dirt bike, start that up and start revving the hell out of it..
