Lightbulb Riding 2 up....2 dudes....

So I was wondering what others thought on this topic. I personally always laughed when I saw a couple of guys on a bike and have always stated I will never allow any dudes to ride bitch with me. Take a cab or walk and I would do the same if I was without any wheels. Not a serious topic but more of an "I wonder what other people in the world think about"....

Well I have always followed this philosophy: No more than two balls on two wheels.
No dude is going to hang onto me. A special girl on the other hand now that is fun!

^^LOL^^

IMO, I suppose it depends on the situation. For example I think father/son is alright. I've got a buddy who just bought his 250 a few weeks ago and his younger son LOVES to go on rides. Something like that would be alright.
However, two buddies going on a cruise ... not sure about that one. I'd probably tell a buddy of mine "go get your own."

As long as he doesn't mind facing backwards

okay(I guess)...other than that, not likely.

Is two gals on a bike okay?

Great topic. Sometimes circumstances creep up on you, though. A few years back on a Death Valley trip, a friend had the absolute worst 4 days of motorcycling one can imagine, save for getting hurt.

- got stung by a bee in his helmet
- got a ticket for 60 in a 55
- hit a dog soon after getting the ticket, putting the bike on its side and inoperable.
- rented a Uhaul with non-functional a/c to take bike and himself several hundred miles from highway 58 all the way to closest BMW dealership in Las Vegas.
- Gets bike fixed, several thousand $ in damage, but is remarkably able to pick it up 2 days later, Saturday evening, and ride back to where we were staying in death valley
- when leaving sunday morning from DV, doesn't get an hour away before running into such road debris (small boulders, pretty much), that completely destroyed both rims and putting it on its side immediately, once again leaving the bike inoperable at the side of the road.

At that point he had to hop on the back of a bike for the rest of the 600 mile trip home, leaving his bike by the side of the road. At the next place with cell service, he called and had someone retrieve it for another couple hundred $ and took it back to the same Las Vegas dealership, to be repaired once again. So he ended up riding on the back of my bike the rest of the way home.

I figured it was the least I could do. There's also much more room on S/T and touring-type bikes that makes 2-up much less of a chore.

It's just a ride on a bike; not an indecent proposal.

Good idea on the facing backwards part but you mean on the back and not on the tank right? j/k but I have only seen 2 girls on a bike but suppose thats more acceptable due to less "junk" touching certain areas. Girls tend to be more huggy touchy feely with each other from what Ive experienced so not so uncomfortable on a bike I would think.

There are certain situations like with Alex and the long distance road trip/emergency situations. So other than emergency situations I just wouldnt be like, "hey bro wanna go for a ride today through some scenic countryside?" and have him hop on the back lol.

That's funny.

How about if that's your only form of transportation and you guys were going to say.....check out a ball game or something; would that be acceptable?? Men are too funny.

I use the weight limit excuse anytime another guy wants to ride!
2 guys, just too heavy.

Two unicorns in one find! Charlie we found candy mountain!

Just kidding.. Seen it and some of them women looked more manish than I would have liked...

Ground rules for guy on guy rides (teehee!!)

#1 absolutely under no circumstances is a wrap around okay!

That about covers it...

If one bike is the only mode of transportation available, then two dudes is okay. But for leasure rides, it is out of the question.

One time in India, I was touring with a bunch of Germans on Enfield 500s. My rental bike broke down and I needed a lift to the hotel. When I got on the bike I put my hands on the driver's hips to hold myself steady - and he got really upset with me! He told me I had to put my hands onto the luggage rack behind me, or he wouldn't give me a ride.

WTF - I ain't trying to touch your 'nads pal, I just need a freakin' ride.

Now you know why we don't like two dudes on one bike. Some of your terms:
Guy on Guy

So on our bikes (that don't have a luggage rack), what would you have to hold onto?????????

I will walk to the ball game or hitch-hike to something like a ball game, I mean what if I did go 4 balls deep on the bike and meet a girl there? He is walkin back for sure and handing over the helmet :P

It's funny you ask. I had a friend the other day ask if I could give him a ride to his house from a bar. I told him I rode the bike. He said "are you good enough to not let me fall off?" I said "Why the hell would you even ask me that. I don't care if I've been riding for a week or twenty years, you're not riding bitch with me." So that sums up my answer...No Thanks...

Ok all you guys out there...since 2 dudes seems to be unacceptable in most conditions, but 2 gals seems to be ok, would you ride on back of a bike with a chick driving? That seems like it may look funny too...not sure if I've ever seen that. Just another "I wonder..." type of question.

I've done that! On Annie's first bike (Buell Blast), she wanted to try riding me around 2-up. We were in the crowded parking lot of a mall/movie theatre at the time, and she took great pride in making sure we made slow passes in front of the other bikes/motorcyclists parked and chatting near the entrance. That bike was low enough that I could put both of my feet down at a stop as well to help balance the bike before we started moving again.

No two guys unless its your pre-teen son.

Here I saw 2 teen boys riding a small scooter, one with no gear and the other with a baseball helmet.

I got grab bars on the back of my bike so if he were to grab me by my waist. I'd pull over and tell him to walk. I've seen 2-3 year olds ride behind dads bike in a helmet way too big for them. I just hope the kid knows whats up.....

sounds like everyone's a tad homophobic, lol

i rarely ride 2 up with another guy, and as some others have mentioned, its only when they are stuck without a ride. the only guy ive taken on the 250r so far has been my little brother (well younger, but hes taller than me ) who isn't allowed on the free way yet, so my gf drove his scooter, and i took him on my bike to the cinemas when we got to the freeway, rofl...

the reason for not really wanting another guy on the back of my bike is mainly cos they usually weigh more than my GF, and its a little awkward, since i don't really want them to hug me the way my gf does, he he...

but to be honest, it doesn't really phase me if its my gf, another girl, brother, or a guy, whoever hops on, as long as they are wearing a helmet, and don't squirm around is welcome for a ride!

if you grow up here where motorbikes are the main means of transportation, and you get whole families (up to 5 people, 2 parents and 3 kids) on a scooter, or 2 ~ 3 guys squeezing onto bikes cos they only have 1 bike, and cant afford a cab, well its just normal every day life here. in the end it comes down to society, and how we view, or think others view ourselves in public.

peace

Unless you are into that kind of thing
I LOL at forum postings about, oh, never, but that got me going...

I've actually given a couple of guys "quickie rides" when they were thinking about getting into motorcycling (yeah, insert your comment here...), but I'm pretty okay w/ my orientation and my image....married, with children, etc...

I think many guys worry more about being seen with a guy on the back, I mean the assumption would probably be something out of "Road Warrior"

It seems after perusing many of these threads there seems to be an issue with the guys and their protruberence! That said I truly now believe "motorcycles and horses" were really built for women. You guys are just not anotomically correct for straddled riding! Looks like bringing the side saddle back for men would be more of a required "mod".... Here's to the motorbike, horse and the women..... yeeeessssssssssssss
