Repair on a 650R flairing

Hope to get some suggestions on here.

**** happens. I was hauling my bike on the back of the trailer and the metal grill broke, which in return loosened up the strap. Needless to say the bike fell over on the left side. I now have damage on the flairing. What are some inexpensive options to get it fixed?

The attached photos are from after the bike ride was restrapped.

Thank you!

Are there any cracks, or just gouges? If just gouges, I'd say some Bondo and paint is all it needs. If cracks, ABS cement fiberglass cloth to patch on the inside, then Bondo and paint.

If you've never used Bondo before, you should get someone who is good at it at least get you started. If you're experience with it, have at it. Generally, I try to make a squeegee from something like thin sheet metal bent to match the shape of the part that's getting fixed, and try to get very close to the right shape. Like for that corner on your fairing, bend the metal to match the corner radius so you can sweep along it and get the right shape easily. It takes a couple applications with sanding between them to get it to where you can't feel any irregularities. Then prime and paint.

Looks like it needs some paint. Any cracks might I suggest J-B Weld. Not only does it work, it holds under extreme temps and is $8. Make sure to smear the weld on the INSIDE of the fairing.

Edit: I see you say no cracks. Well in that case I would take it to an experienced painter and if its bothering you that bad, foot the bill.

Since there are no cracks, just fill in the scratches and re-paint it. There are tons of how to videos on youtube.

If it was cracked I'd say get a cheap plastic welding iron and go to town.

I use this:

And these filler rods:

That's pretty awesome. Heard horror stories about buying things from HF. Hobo Freight I've heard it called. But then I read many people here use it and I'd trust most of you over a bunch of keyboard warriors on Facebook.

Harbor freight does have cheap stuff. If I were buying equipment for daily use in a business I would not buy it from Harbor Freight.

But I have used that plastic welding Iron to repair 3 Ninjette fairings and it is still working. But I doubt it would last long if I was in the business of plastic welding fairings every day. Also it is fairly slow to use.
