Fork seal driver: what size?
Anyone know what size we need for the 08-12?
I'm buying one for my other bike (CBR500r = 41mm), & want to know if it will work for both, or if I should get a universal seal driver.

Have you considered using a piece of PVC pipe to drive the seals with? It's what I use. An 18" length of 37mm (1.5") ID pipe works fine for both gens of the Ninja 250. Picture attached as I just did the seals on mine...
You'll need something a little bigger for the Honda seals. 1.614" inner diameter. Luck, J~

For one of my other bikes, I actually found that the plastic extension tube for my shop vac was the perfect size.
Have a look around your garage/shop, you probably already have something that will work.

I have a few pieces of PVC around the shop for different fork sizes. I thought about buying a universal fork seal driver but why spend the money when I already have a functioning method.

Tip
There is a big washer that needs to go down fist. Make sure it's down correct, BEFORE using the fork driver.
You don't need a l lot of force for the driver. My friend didn't seat the washer right, and starting using tons of force with fork driver, still he could not put on the metal clip. He took the fork seal out, and saw the washer was not on right. |
