Alpinestars or Dainese?

I have come to a split in my path. There are two roads to choose from, but I will only choose one.

So I am going to buy a new Jacket.

Here are the two contenders:

http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/a...leather-jacket

and

http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/d...leather-jacket

Both are the same price.

What I like about the A-stars:

-Completely blacked out, no loud logos.
It is something that I can take to the office and hang on my chair with out drawing too much attention. It is also something that I can wear while running errands on my motorcycle, again without drawing too much attention. Something I can also take on a date, if I can ever convince the wife to 2-up with me, again, no loud logos. I can even use this jacket as my "winter"" jacket. I can even use it when I am not riding my motorcycle and just trying to stay warm while being out.

-Highly Perforated.
If you are familiar with the weather where I live. It is HOT. You don't know HOT until you have lived here. (Just comparing within the United States) I can keep the jacket on while inside the store or where ever I am at without roasting inside the jacket. When winter comes around, a simple layer underneath takes care of keeping me warm.

I might have to spend extra $$$ on upgrading armor.

What I like about the Dianese:
-Confidence inspiring protection.
I tried one on one time and the jacket just hugged me and inspired me to just get on my bike and go for a ride. That forearm protection just speaks out to me: "I got you bro." in case of a fall.

-CE certified armor.
It already comes with it, no need to upgrade every piece of armor. Just the back armor.

-This jacket will be closer to my size. The A-star jacket might run 1 size up from my actual size.

Not sure I would take this jacket to a date or errands.

Any suggestions or any feedback from experience welcome.

Do you have to get it now? We're not that far off from Thanksgiving and black Friday. Unless you're worried about it going out of stock.

Other than some protectors, I don't have experience with Astars gear. I have noticed that Astars gear have more practical interior pockets.

I think so.

This shows up on google. I don't see Astars though:

After getting a nice A-star perf jacket with just about the crappiest front zipper that always catches ever…I will never go A-star again.

Do you own that jacket? How does the jacket do itself with the exception of the zipper?

If it was me I'd go for the Dainese. It looks like it's good for 4 seasons. Not sure where you live but that could be important.

I own two Alpinestar GP Plus jackets (one perforated other solid leather) and like both. I wish they had removable thermal linings. But they are great quality and feel like they will do the job if I go down.

No, I do not own the A-star jacket you have linked. I love everything else about my A-star jacket.

I have that Dainese jacket and I like it. I don't have much to compare it to as I'm a newbie and it's my first mc jacket, but it's pretty comfortable. It has a removable thermal liner but I haven't worn mine with that in yet - it's still too warm for that even here in Indiana. I definitely feel well protected in it - the forearm armour is pretty solid. Also, that is the closeout price - I've seen the Dainese listed for a lot more elsewhere.

That sentence answers your question all on it's own. The one that you will wear! It don't matter if it fits if you don't wear it. If you have hesitation to wear the Dianese, then A* it is.

I would wear it anytime I'm on the bike but I wouldn't go a date on my bike to avoid having to wear it.

Figured...besides, my size just sold out (dainese) and I know in the future when I get a more expensive ,better armoured jacket, I'm going to get really mad at myself for not buying the optimum choice.

If you have the opportunity to go into a local shop and try both of these jackets on, do it! Fit is gonna be key.

I pushed to carry the Laguna Evo jacket at my store because I love the way it looks and we didn't sell any of them because of how bad the fit was.

I don't have personal experience with the Alpinestars jacket but as far as brands, Alpinestars and Dainese are compatible brands and one isn't better than the other. It really is all about fit and which model jacket is going to fit you better.
