Oil Change gone bad?

Hey guys. First post, but i searched around before I started another oil change thread.

Finally changed my oil @ 461 miles (bought her July 24th). started her up, checked the oil level again, added a bit more, rode around for a bit, and all was good......until I got home.

Noticed the Element Cap sitting on the table. No leaks or strange noises.

Can this pose a problem?

I plan on going to Cycle Gear tomorrow and getting another filter so I can assemble the filter correctly this time.

Thanks in advance all.

You mean the thing that goes on top of the filter and goes into the engine right? I think you are fine as long as you didn't go on a really long trip or something.

I wouldn't get another filter. Just take the barely used one out, reinstall with the cap and top off the oil.

The metal cap that sits on top of the filter.

Yeah, I would put that part back as soon as you can. Why get another filter? Use the one you have and just put that part back in. Use some new oil, though.

no need to replace the filter. Just take it out and put the cap on. Use the same filter, no need to throw money away.

Ross, You might find it handy to buy a measuring cup graduated in Ml. This is a great way to prevent overfilling.

No fears of over filling, but that would be pretty handy to have
Thanks Sailariel
