Qatar MotoGP Sunday Subscriber Notes: Part 2 - How Di Giannantonio Turned It Round, Tire Pressure Wildcards For Valencia, And That Moto3 Race

As I wrote yesterday, Fabio Di Giannantonio's remarkable and well-deserved victory in Qatar came from a place of adversity. He had been told in Sepang that there was no place left for him in MotoGP, so he went home and told his inner circle of friends and family that he was going to prove how wrong that was by winning the race in Qatar. "I am telling you now, I am going to win," he had said. And to the amazement of everyone but himself and possibly his crew, he pulled it off.

That, at least, was some small comfort. He had done everything he could to prove that he deserved a ride. "Nobody can steal your results," the Gresini Ducati rider told the press conference. "So for the rest of my life, if I look at the Qatar 2023 race in MotoGP, I’ll be always the winner. So, I’ll always be proud of my achievement of today."
